We're harsher on him than neutrals are

True, but that cuts both ways for every player. We also love our players more than anyone else.

Neutrals I speak with are fairly down on him as well. Last night they were commenting on how frustrating it is watching him as he has all the tools to have so much more impact than he actually does.

Bergman is my dream off-season target. He is so good and would fit us perfectly down back, able to play on talls or smalls. Really hope we are offering him good $ to come across.

I think the club sees Lachie Jaques in that undersized intercepting role. By all reports, he was the standout rookie before his injury.

Excited to see him play.

This could end up being one of the great drafts for a team that didn’t have a single pick inside the top 20.

And that's after also having a good draft in 2023 with Freijah, Croft, and (assuming he develops as hoped over the next few years) Sanders. Excellent opportunity for the list build.

I think it's really important for us to hit drafts with multiple picks, obviously the higher the better but we generally do well there. We aren't a destination club and most of our talent comes via the draft. The more swings we take the more gems we will find.

One of the impacts of the consecutive JUH/Darcy drafts and the limited draft hands was that we had to top up the list with low ceiling mature recruits which does have long term impacts. But last year was a deep cut of the list and looking at the out of contracts we have this year, hopefully we replicate it and hit the draft hard again (assuming no big name players coming our way via trade). Another deep clean of the list and our young talent stocks looks a lot more reassuring. Scott, Baker, Poulter - no longer required. Doc and JJ - retired. Cleary, AJ - not likely. Jamarra - gone. Lots of room to refresh the list again.

Fingers crossed the 2024 draft takes on a bit of the character of Dalrymple's 2014 super draft. You take that many swings with a good recruiting team, you might miss on a couple, but that's the game - we got some very handy players.

Feel like we have largely ignored the wing position in the recent years, it’s really nice to have two really competent wingers with size in Davidson and Williams.

I don’t ask much from the wingers, just want them to run hard both ways and be able to cause a contest when needed. These two are doing it and some. Thought they were both in the top 5 players on the ground last night.

Must admit I was feeling a bit unsure about Davison and second guessing why we didn't go with Moraes after his impressive few games.
Boy oh boy was I wrong.

He could have a wing at Whitten Oval named after him at the end of his career. I reckon he ran close to 20kms last night.

That mark against Hollands in the final stages was huge.

14.6kms.

He led our team in distance covered and also distance sprinted (2.8kms).

We tried to moneyball the position with McComb, Scott, Poulter and Baker. Didn't work.

Bailey Williams is a good competitor and done alright, for sure, but not a natural winger.

Davidson understands the role really well and plays with a desperation that many don't have.

It's only 3 games in so it's not a complaint but if he can hit the scoreboard consistently from that position he becomes a very very good player.

It's honestly a shame that Roarke Smith's body let him down in the end because I felt that he had turned into a good defensively minded winger who could drop into the hole.

Bailey Williams was a top 5 wing in the competition last year (Champion Data).

He's better than we often give him credit for.

Anyone watching today's game against Melbourne can see why Rowell would be a great pick-up. Not suggesting we'll get him or that he'll move, but he would be massive in our midfield.

The way GC are playing at the moment though, I wouldn't think you'd want to leave.

Wasn’t Freijah drafted as a winger?

I’d keep Poulter and Baker. They are the bottom end players you need - on low $$$ and can come in and play a role. AJ, Scott, Doc, JJ at this stage.

Yeah he's either going to get stupid amounts of money from the GC to stay or Tasmania is going to chase him as the marquis signing.

I like him too. He looks forward not backwards.
Thought he and Gallagher provided some good positive pressure and then run from the backline.

Would definitely persist with them for a while and keep Freijah in the middle
