AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Try list another 3 players that are contracted until 2010 that look disposable.
I understand that his contractt end at the end of the year. Just cant see Essendon doing that, maybe he has a spot at GC
Might need to get rid of four if we want to promote Howlett or one of our other rookies.
Please explain.then who was phone?!?!?
Please explain.
Rookie promotions count as list changes for the next few years because of the compromised drafts.
We could promote Howlett, trade in X and only take one pick in the draft, if we wanted to.
Didn't know that, cheers.
But the question is lamaros, has Atkinson become a best 22 player. Essendon, if they believed he was a best 22 player would surely not delist him. He's an erratic depth player at best, and you have to delist a number of players every year.
Who else on the list would you get rid of? Bold players are best 22 or solid depth players. Italics are the young ones who obviously deserve time to develop.

Which leaves:
Daniher - Younger and taller, with the potential to be a key defender once Fletch goes. Unless he's clearly off the pace he'll be given more time.
Hardingham - Younger and we only just drafted him, so he'll be given time to show what he can do.
Houli - Could go, but is younger and has shown improvement. Likely to be a trade or GC17 if anything.
Laycock - Still our third best ruckman and a solid depth player. Only a few months older than Atko too.
Lonergan - Clearly a decent depth player as shown by recent form. Likely to go when pushed out by being unable to get a game, which hasn't happened yet and probably wont 'till next year sometime. Two years younger.
Neagle - Might go, but could demonstrate the will to play and show himself as an excellent forward still - we'll have to wait out the year. Three years younger.
So yeah. as far as players go, Atkinson would have to be up there as a delist chance unless we do a bit of trading and let go of some other players who've shown at least as much if not more.
But the question is lamaros, has Atkinson become a best 22 player.

I don't think Bock is good enough for Laycock to be delisted, tbh.
Going into a season with only 3 AFL standard ruckmen is suicide.
IMO Atkinson shits on Houli in terms of our gameplayExactly. And the ones in bold are clear ahead of him, which leaves competition for delisting against the others. All of whom have good if not better cases than Atko.
It's harder to get good key position players than half-backs who are erratic and can't defend all that well, so when it comes down to it Laycock (who would be in the best 22 of many clubs at the moment if he was fit as he is a decent ruckman) is harder to replace than Atko, as is Daniher. Unless they really rate Bock's chances to improve...
So he's up against Houli, Lonergan, Neagle and Hardingham for the delist/trade spots. All of which I've reasoned for.
I wouldn't say Atko is a definite delist, but he's in contention at this point.
RE: 3 changes for the year: Laycock (Uncontracted), Atkinson (Delisted), [Third player undecided just yet].
Easily ahead of Houli.
I don't think we'll be doing a whole lot this off-season. Maybe only the minimum 3 delistings. Bach, Laycock and ......
Wait and see.
