That’s a strong decision delisting Jess Hosking, 53 games and was probably a Tier 2 when she came over.
At 166 you need more than being physical and I think those close losses we could have won if we had another skilful mobile player.

Thanks for pulling on the jumper and all the best.

yeah true.......but unpopular choice going by social media
3 players gone, by my count we still have 29 on the list, need at least 2 picks in draft....not counting any incoming trades.

Sarah D'Arcy, Meg Macdonald and even Stella Reid under the pump
will Charley Ryan who hasn't played for 2 years be given more time?
Shelby Knoll (ACL), Lilly Pearce, what is their futures?

list changes still not finished.

Jess Hosking delisted.
I'm surprised with being shocked. Good we are making these dalls.
Steph Williams cut as well.
Bit of a shock , A couple of things come to mind . One we are clearing the decks tpp wise to trade in a decent player , two, is she a loose unit ? question not a statement , was charged with being >0.05 on a jet ski 🎿 and was something else was in strife can’t think
funny thing is i think prob better player than Sarah , but that’s not great
good luck to her , they both been great ambassadors for the club and no doubt will be picked up

it was the "Kill Bitches" written on her shoulder tape.

yeah i get that same feeling she'll be picked up as a DFA

Thought we could have traded her rather than delist.
Sarah does the match day MCing at the men’s games and does a good job of it.

I think it also shows how far the womens game has come.
you can no longer be satisfied with scrappers on your list. By scrapper I mean one-dimensional triers.
it needs pace and skills now. The finals showed us that.

Ferguson inks two-year extension
Richmond AFLW coach Ryan Ferguson has committed to the Club until at least the end of 2025.

Richmond is delighted to announce it has extended AFLW senior coach Ryan Ferguson’s contract by a further two years.
The contract extension will see Ferguson tied to the Club until at least the end of the 2025 AFLW season.
Ferguson, 42, took on the reins at Richmond after the Club’s disappointing winless first season. His latest extension will take him into a fifth and sixth campaign in the role.
The former Melbourne AFL defender has coached 41 AFLW games, demonstrating improvement in his first three seasons, including a barnstorming top-four finish in Season 7.
Richmond finished with five wins and five losses in 2023, claiming an impressive Round 1 scalp against Brisbane and an emphatic final-round win against Collingwood among the victories.
Ferguson said he and the group were hungry to achieve more in the next two years.
“We have a real belief in what we can do going forward,” he said.
“As a group, we were not satisfied with how this season panned out, but we are ready to embrace the challenge ahead and are happy to have finished so strongly in Round 10.
“To have signed on for two more years is pleasing, and I thank the Club for their faith in what our program is doing.
“We look forward to the journey ahead.”

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said having Ferguson locked in for two more seasons was exciting.
“It is clear that our players respond well to Ryan and his coaching style and philosophies,” he said.
“Ryan’s leadership and passion to drive elite standards and professionalism has stood out and the players have relished this direction.
“2023 had its challenges for us, but we are confident that the group is tracking in the right direction and are capable of returning to finals action quickly.”
He’s our Ken Hinkley

happy with the hosking decision. can't remember if i wrote it in this forum or not but said we needed to go beyond them. they were good players for us but would prefer if they make way for up and coming players (mainly jess, happy with sarah although i don't know what position she's #1 in). unfortunately we were ravaged by injury this year and to be fair so were they so we didn't get to see our youngsters crack in as much as we'd have liked. need a new look next year

Yep we got a load of them and I think the hoskos have peaked , Sarah could barely get near it this year , can only carry so many before it really hurts your chances , it’s why ess wizzed past us

You’d let D’Arcy go way before Reid. Isn’t D’Arcy approaching mid thirties?
Darcy will be 33 next year.
Reid is taller.
This year
Reid played 8 games 8 marks scored 2.1
Darcy played 4 games 7 marks 2.2

Reid has taken more than 2 marks in a game once in her career. 22 games.

Darcy ave 3 marks a game
KB ave 3.1

It’s a good question between those two, if Darcy can stay healthy I think she’s got two more seasons if it’s only 10/12 games a year.
I think I’d keep Darcy and let Reid go now we have Jones.

Darcy is laughably slowwwww, Reid I’d be happy to trade , is way too timid to Ever be any good , has NEVEr won a contested possession in her life

Yeah she is slow, takes about 4 steps to get outve 2nd gear but she doesn’t get pushed outve a marking contest easily. That might be the only thing she’s got that we need.
I agree about Reid and now she needs to stay outve the 50 if Jones, Grieser and KB are playing with a small or two plus Mids (Ellie)floating in.

We need marks 60/70 mtr out and KB needs to stay within range.
Hope we bring in someone “rangy” who can run and mark, we’ve got good players just need a couple more.

That’s why I mentioned Taylor Harris , we also need another good mid , better than Egan to partner mon con ,it’s a must otherwise we will waste the era that we have a generational talent

something is going on to address this, not sure what, but something is in motion.

have heard JHosking delisting was to allow her to walk to some other club as a DFA.
also, SHosking might be going as well.
would free up a bit of money.

are we restructuring our TPP?
opening up more money for a trade for an A grade talent?

interesting.......

I would say we are clearing decks , wouldn’t surprise if Sarah followed , good luck to them if they can get an oppo elsewhere I personally think they’ve peaked both had minimal impact this year and I mean minimal

Alyce Parker would be a good get to add to midfield depth, as the article that was mentioned earlier in this thread. She is a left footer that would add contrast to what we already have & a hard nut with good skills. Also the article mentions we are very interested in getting her in for next season. We just need to make it happen. The more skilled players we can add, the closer we get to the current top teams. We cant afford to sit on our hands & think it will magically happen without recruiting better players, which long term will make us a destination club. Also 23 years old.
