just seen your post nominate Alex Morgan at Pick 31 which is surprising , what do you like about him ?

Certainly likes a goal. Drills them on the run from 50+ very nicely. Nice pace and composed ball use, but then it's a highlight reel you don't see the duffed kicks.

Morgan is young and needs some development but his raw skills look really good to me. I can see him in a few years being a really reliable half back flanker that can run and carry out of defence when we have a few retirements and Duggan shifts more into the middle. If you watch a few of his games you'll notice he is really composed and deceptively fast (he topped the speed test at the combine but when you watch him play you wouldn't think so - that's a good sign imo). With some specialist training I think he has just as much potential for x-factor as Rioli but without the famous name

Having said that. If we don't get Cuningham and we get Cole wiht our 1st then I'd probably take someone other than Morgan with our 2nd.

I get your point about Menegola I just don't know if he will crack our B22 this year unless there a few injuries (hence why I think rookie list might be better). I'd rather invest in youngsters that we can develop from 18/19yo with our ND picks.

Rioli has only played 3 TAC games which has kept his profile down but the speed ,agility ,marking and footy tricks plus goal kicking an decision making are there.
Now Essendon with 2 picks behind WCE are interested and have been for a while so no chance of being a rookie .

He seemed an alright kick and good overhead, I dunno he didn't strike me as super pacey or dangerous around goals. Only scored 3 goals in 4 games too.

But fair enough, small sample size.

While I'm at it;
Rioli - is shit and is a waste of a pick in the ND, one armed fakes the same direction and the same step back move will get found out very quickly at AFL level.
Cuningham - looks like the ultimate **** tease but when the time comes for the big dance, he won't put out...Can't find the balls naturally.
Glass-McCasker - looks like a great stopper but he has the foot coordination of Hunter S Thompson on an Ether bender.

I just don't see it the same way.
At best I think he has the makings for an okay inside mid at the next level.

So at this stage I'm hoping we favour the Bonner/Ah Chee/Crocker/Fiorini/Morgan and to a lesser extent Cuningham types over the guys like Gresham/Partington/O'Kearney/Snelling.

How nice would a Tucker or Ah Chee slide be? I can see it happening with either given neither are mids.

is there a reason why WA have been so average in producing good talent lately? 1 predicted first round pick and a chance he can slip out of the first round and not many decent talent after. Sad thing is that NSW and Queensland will have more talent in the first round than us. This has been happening for few years now aswell. we have been providing similair amounts of talent if not more talent to the AFL in the past than SA. However, SA in the last few years have been doing well both in the championships and have been providing a lot of talent in the draft and mind you that SA have a million less people than WA. ATM we have some of the best players in the comp and our state of origin side could be the most formidable side out of all the states, but i cant see that being the case in years to come.

Is this just a phase that WA footy is going through or this something serious? I did hear that next years crop should be a lot better than the 2015 crop.

The list provided has its merits and I'm not arguing against the majority of those players however I'd have Partington way above O'Kearney, similar types in style but if this was a make your own AFL player, Partington would have 7&8's across nearly all boxes, O'Kearney is 5&6's.

Gresham is pretty kick arse for mine as is Lovell.

I have no problem with people evaluating prospective draftees on what they are like right at this moment but to assume you know whether they will make it or not is completely naive - none of us have any idea really. The recruiters have a lot more footage, data and information and it's still a lottery for them. Otherwise the best players would have all been picked at #1.

Not arguing the bolded part at all however we're all (us on the forum) are in the same position with our own opinions.
Otherwise there would be no point forming an opinion and discussing it at all. - I don't assume to know, I just go with the relevant data available to myself and form an opinion from there, much like everyone else here.

Besides, read the post again and if can't see it's half tongue in cheek and pulling the mickey out of myself a bit perhaps you need your eyes checked.
