I can't see much wrong with Cuningham although I get the sense he didn't test that well (other than the 20m sprint).
Just had a look and he came equal 3rd in the stationary vertical jump, 5th in the repeat sprints, as well as equal 4th in the 20m sprints.

Since I posted that there has been a fair bit of info posted on him here.
He was always going to be rated more highly by recruiters than Bigfooty posters. They look more at what a player could be if all their attributes (physical and skills) consistently come together working in a full-time elite organisation, and how driven they are to make that happen.
Was absolutely stoked he slid to pick 48 in the Mock draft if it was real Richmond would be grinning ear to ear !!

Yes I know - I went back and checked as well afterwards. Although he didn't make the top 10 with 3km, clean hands or the kicking test (if you compare him to Mountford for instance). Not sure why he wasn't front of our minds back then? Has been flying under the radar somewhat until the past few days on BF.

Pick 31 Menagola
Seriously? I know he has improved (and killed it in the WAFL after moving to Subi) but still not sure I'd use our 2nd pick and probably not our 3rd either. I'd prefer to try and rookie him given he has tried and been unsuccessful at two other clubs. Do you think anyone else would be looking to draft him?

In a weak draft like this i
Pick 31 would be great .wce don't have the luxury of waiting till pick 61 .I think he can play straight away and have some effect .

Do you think we would consider Greg Clarke? Captain of the WA state team, big bodied mid fielder. Not sure if he has any question marks.

Perhaps all part of an orchestrated mis-direction by crazy vozzo to see Clarkes demand fall. Then again it could simply be his development has stalled and others have gone past him.

Not sure they can do more than one poll per thread. Like most people I've gone around in circles a bit over the past few weeks but yesterday I felt really comfortable with these preferences -
  • pick 23 (ie ~28) - David Cuningham
  • pick 31 (ie ~36) - Alex Morgan
  • pick 62 (ie ~56) - Declan Mountford
  • pick 75 (ie ~65) - PASS
.

I would like us to go for a key position player in the draft (preferably a defender) and develop them to play at either ends of the ground. We got Barrass as one of the defenders to move into the side but Emacs getting closer to 30 and Brown (chance he might not even be there next season) and schoey injury prone. So it might not be bad idea to puts 2-4 years of development into a player (bit like barrass) and plan him to be a succession player.

would love Glass-McCasker at pick 31 but have a feeling he might not be there.

Maybe we could get a dylan smith or sam skinner later in the draft.
I reckon Shuey's pace comes from his attacking sensibility and willingness to back himself through traffic more than necessarily being the fastest runner who happens to be an inside mid.

But you're right, it's almost impossible to tell based on one video. His 20m sprint was 2.91 (very similar to Shuey's 2.92), but his repeat sprints time was more than 1 second quicker than Shuey's.

Yeah mayb, but i though shuey in the early day had the pace that could break lines. He was playing more in the forward flanks and used to his pace more often on the outside and burned the opposition.

Yeah I agree, shuey probably is more explosive than anything. he can burst out of the blocks get clear in 20-30meters and burn everyone (like the goal in the prelim v north) but he is caught up by other in the long run. Dangerfield on the other hand is both explosive and can maintain his pace for a long time.

i read that he's not a great inside mid and he's too slow to play outside. He's height and endurance is what apparently has scouts interested. One person suggested that he might be a thrird tall forwad that plays the linkman role like tom Lynch from the crows. We got a few players doing that role so we dont really need more.

So basically Colledge mk 2
