The belief was that other players - particularly younger kids - either offer more or deserve the chance to show their wares.
In your opinion - where would have Newman be placed in a fully fit WC squad ?

Would have much preferred Clarke to Parto, he looks like the better player, but I'm guessing we thought that there was less go home factor with Parto than Clarke who's from Vic Metro, also took 2 SA players from outside Adelaide and another from Vic Country.I'm guessing there's a reason we didn't pick up balic ,hibberd or Clarke with our first.

personally if there was no go home factor I would have preferred all three of them,I was hoping BOND 007 would have explained the reasoning behind partingtons selection.Hopefully the eagles just thought he was the best optionWould have much preferred Clarke to Parto, he looks like the better player, but I'm guessing we thought that there was less go home factor with Parto than Clarke who's from Vic Metro, also took 2 SA players from outside Adelaide and another from Vic Country.

sorry but we took duggan and cavka last year and both were metro boys. The two adelaide boys being country boys is probably just a coincidence. Internally the many clubs didnt rate clarke that high. Weeks leading to the draft, clarke was predicted to go mid to late first round and like mathison, he probably has a deficiency that clubs dont like.Would have much preferred Clarke to Parto, he looks like the better player, but I'm guessing we thought that there was less go home factor with Parto than Clarke who's from Vic Metro, also took 2 SA players from outside Adelaide and another from Vic Country.
So everyone happy ?
BOND 007 I was talking to one of the Calder Cannon Coaches who coached Cavka and he explained the severity and seriousness of Cavka's foot injury , can you elaborate on just where Cavka is at with his rehab or shed any further light on this matter?
Still want Harley and nor happy about Rosa, but as for the draft - .So everyone happy ?
Yes Mr BOND 007 - very happy. The team have done a wonderful job (not just this year but I saw a change in 2013 trading/drafting that was even more evident in 2014 and continued well in 2015.So everyone happy ?
Did Cavka bring this injury in from 2014? maybe it might have been the reason why he slid so low. Simmo and the recruiters couldnt belive we got him so low. A fit Cavka could have been a higher pick and maybe we took a calculated punt by recruiting him with our last pick.
Wasn't Braun the same? Get them in a room together, he should have some good insightsApparently Cavka is dedicated to training and prep to the point of obsession. And also a bit of a weird unit.
Think the club would be holding him back and loosening him up if anything.
Braun will just try and sell him two pairs of spectacles for the price of one.Wasn't Braun the same? Get them in a room together, he should have some good insights

So I am guessing Cav doesn't come over to Boots for dinner too often then?I have heard this also.
Like refusing a coffee with his new teammates when he joined the club last year coz of the caloriez
No spaghetti nights at the Coniglio's place either
No, ask Jason Akermanis, Braun is a Blood doping cheat because he ran more than Aker could.Wasn't Braun the same? Get them in a room together, he should have some good insights
Did the club ever consider Keiran Agius at all?
Too much risk?
No enough potential in the clubs eyes?
Also, If Kieran Lovell was available at our 1st, would we have jumped?
I'm happy. Are you happy?
And I'm also interested in any other thoughts you have about the draft or trade/trade period.

Yes I am.
Was hoping that Partington slid to us, but I was a bit sceptical that this would occur, but you can never anticipate the picks from left field in the first round that have a knock on effect.
Cole is a solid pick with our second pick and I was very happy with that we secured his services.
Mutimer may well surprise many on this board,as to just how good a footballer he is, he is seriously quick and has heaps of skill.
Don' t mind the Allen pick as we traditionally always pick at least one tall in the national or rookie draft that we take a punt on.
As for Snadden I am rapt with this pick .
But here is the thing for me, its the assessment of the totality on the Trade and Draft periods that most impresses me .
We traded for needs (as you always should) Redden and Jetta fill positions and or role of need ,so a big tick there.
Apart from the uninspiring year at the toxicology lab (AKA Essendon ) Giles has given both good service and durability to his previous teams and whilst I will be in a minority here, I think he is a much better player than he is given credit for.
The draft I am very happy with as we added three players to our list in the National Draft that are multi positional and even more importantly for me , they are all player that are capable of playing both inside and outside roles. Coupled with this is that all three have good endurance and they also have good pace.
Vozzo and O'Brien have, IMO, done well these last two draft. Both with their player selections, their trading and their jockeying for positional movement up the draft board.
I have been a critic of some of the trade and drafting decisions over the past eight years or so but I will pay Credit where its due Vozzo and O'Brien have done well and earn't their keep these past two years.

Yep - good job.
My thoughts - rewind the clock to end season 2014. Ask yourself what were the missing pieces from the WC premiership jigsaw. Now fast forward to post 2015 draft - are they still missing ?
