blues get betts (partially) to mentor young Carlton small fwds, except there’s no one to mentor - they forgot Papley, Martin and Butler

[enter Rfcglory Ray liotta laughing gif]
They'll turn Sam Pretzel-Sneaker into a small forward because that was always the plan.

So Carltoon miss Papley, Martin and Butler but get Betts who's cooked.

I get it that Betts is a 'feelgood' moment, but it sounds like a 'Magic' trade scenario where we get Lids back. He may help with mentoring indigenous kids...although I can't think of any on their list.

If I was a Carltoon supporter then I'd be pretty pi**ed off at the pissweak effort that's been touted by their 'so-called' list manager over this trade period

Again, Silly Old Sausage looked like a deer in the headlights being interviewed tonight.

Geezuz them and Arsendon have some sh*house, dumb, people running things. Deeeee-licious !!!

nice position to be in. trade 2 premiership players (one we didn't match), to clear up salary space and because we have replacements for both. not too long ago you would look at our list and have 10 players that could be delisted easily, without a qualm. Times have certainly changed.

well said

We are Geelong the retirement village for all.

We are Geelong we take the old boys.

We take the blokes that can no longer play. From home or far away.

Our banner’s flying high from dawn to dark down at geriatric park.

They have formally changed the name of their home ground to Blackwell Funerals Stadium for 2020 and beyond, as it’s where careers go to die.

14 players 29 or older! Delicious!

Bomber supporting mother is very un-happy that Essendon did not get rid of "those ******* duds"
starting to think she is a not a big fan of Daniher

when was the last time a team got rid of 40 odd players in one trade period

I’ve actually come around to think well done to the Dons.
They have a contracted star and didn’t get offered what they wanted to so are backing themselves in to re-sign him.
If it was us and Jack in that position I’d want our club to do the same thing.
Trades are too one sided in the players favour atm. Hopefully this is the start of the change

Agree with the first part.
Disagree with the second part regarding trades being in players favour. We only see the tip of the iceberg. The small minority who get to choose. For every Daniher there's a Dea, McNeice, Houlihan, Baguley, Lavender whos only choice now is what real life job they going to pursue.
Clubs have all the power bar a few exceptions. Don't let the media tell you otherwise.

Disaster for Blues: No deals for two top trade targets

Honestly it’s a terrible look for the Blues. They hit up Ellis and Butler then abandoned them in the gutter when shinier pieces came along but failed to pay up.

I reckon players managers will look at this and be wary.
