Not sure if right place to ask, but few Qs on those delistings:
  • WTF is happening to Townsend?
  • Swear I've seen some Tigers fans talk up Moore earlier in the year as basically the next big thing. Is that some inside joke, were they a nuffy, or has something changed dramatically over the course of this year?
  • I can only assume the Tigers are enabling Menadue to go to Freo as a DFA, or else that's a really odd move. Am I wrong there?

Surprised Miller has been retained
He strikes me as the type who is worth the looooonnggg term investment. I really think he could turn into a very good player, just has no chance of featuring in the 22 anytime soon. We sort of have our own version in Lewis Young, where many people thought he'd leave this year to get further opportunity elsewhere, but he instead signed on for another 2 years with the club committing to developing him for the near future. If given the choice between developing Miller for another year, or taking a punt on a late pick in the draft, I know who I'd pick

- He isnt needed anymore
- No one talks him up as "the next big thing", and if they do they are a nuffy........ missed most of the year after breaking his ankle and is surplus to our needs
- Hasnt shown much in his time here, has had ample opportunity and hasnt cemented a spot

Positionally (KPD opposed to KPF) and age wise I think makes sense to retain Miller over Moore. Especially if Balta's anticipated role for next year is unclear or not in defence.

Don't think any if those delisted had a future at the club... Apart from the emotional attachment to Townsend, really happy with the clubs decisions.

Its hard to crack a game; flag, minor premiership, flag [good time line]

- Townsend & Moore are behind Jack and Lynch for big spots, Rioli, Bolton, George and the mids for small spots... Balta and CCJ are the next gen. Butler got the ass too

I like Moore, will make it I reckon - like Sammy Lloyd did. if not, he will kick ass at a frankston or williamstown

Townsend is a legend. Lynch takes away a fwd spot, even Caddy was shuffled to a wing after 50 odd goals prior

Townsend had a purple patch when we won the GF in 2017 but since then has been shown up time and time again at AFL level. He’s a monster in the VFL, but hasn’t looked like he belongs at the highest level since 2017.

Some people rated Moore highly last year but I think that’s only because we were desperate for another tall. Has some tricks, but similar to Townsend, struggles to take that next step.

Menadue was the biggest surprise for me, especially after we lost Ellis. He has elite speed and kicking, just needs to back himself in more. Wish we kept him. I feel like we pulled the trigger way too early. Will excel at another club.

Yeah I'm getting the impression it was just classic main board nuffy talk on Moore, based on what some of you have now said. Menadue I rate but can understand that from the Tigers perspective, when you've been on the list for 5 years and not really broken out, it might be time to move him on. Would be surprised if Freo doesn't take him though

Well, we must be pretty confident in what we have coming in through the Draft to be dropping those 3 off. Solid citizens although I have never really been that big a fan of Menadue. He had several opportunities at senior level and never really applied himself as well as I thought he could have. Bit timid at times, lack of defensive urgency at others, foot skills just average. Maybe thought he had one more year on the list ....but anyway.

Towner: awesome effort mate. All the best.

some someone pls post the list now with updates - thank you

the guy that compared Jenkins and Miller, made an interesting point

None of the delistings are a surprise. Town and Meno had plenty of chances and been around a long time.

Menadue was always a project player and still ways about 50kg

i thought he was in the bests in the grand final and very influential in making goals in a low scoring game. Im still shattered that bloke punched him in the face when he was on track for goal of the century.

Hopefully he gets a chance and freo with Conca (and the fyfe bloke) dishing it to him

edit: weighs

It was mentioned earlier in the week that the club do rate him highly and that injuries have hurt his development this year.

FWIW we now have 36 senior listed with Baker Chol & Stack being elevated, means only 4 picks at the draft.

Miller is 20 years, 1 month old

hardly ancient

195 (94kg) is a good size too

What has Miller shown so far??

Legitmate question, I am not having a crack, just have not seen any vision feedback.

The thing is if he has not shown much will he ever later and how much of a gamble does this become?

I would keep Townsend on as a rookie(if he was happy to do so) well before retaining Miller unless he gave something real. Even then I might rookie him such is the strength of our list. Still I am detached from whats happening at the club so I cannot make such decisions informatively
