Only difference with Jones is he is a massive frame, a bash and crash type with a burst of speed out of a stoppage. We don't have anyone like that at the club right now. Dusty uses his strength to break away. Jones uses his pace. He is exactly the type we need, in my opinion. Someone who will bash into a contest, extract the ball, run 10 meters out of a pack and deliver the ball long. Will only make us better in the long run and fix the glaring contested possession weakness that has been exposed to us throughout all of our losses this year.

Jones also runs both ways, has a good tank and has terrific defensive pressure. Underrated in my opinion and will be 25 a couple weeks before round 1. Plenty of upside.

Ellis is the same age as Motlop when he left the Cats, and has a longer contract worth more than Motlop, and Motlop got the Cats an End of First round selection.

Based on the AFL's own criteria, we will get an end of first round compo pick.

I have always rated Ellis. He was drafted at Pick 15. I always rated his value somewhere in the region of 20-25. So to me, a end of first is about on par with where I would expect him to fetch in regards to a trade.

If he was to come for lack of opportunity HE WILL WANT GAMES then he will be waiting at richmond with JR and Lynchy keeping him out.We probably wouldnt be his club of choice because of this.
Lastly he resigned with the eagles until 2021.

I have always rated Ellis. He was drafted at Pick 15. I always rated his value somewhere in the region of 20-25. So to me, a end of first is about on par with where I would expect him to fetch in regards to a trade.

Only 26 and played over 175 games... on track to be a 300 game player and one of our best runners

Not without his flaws but early 20s pick is about right

Whatever happened to Ely Smith? We were into him as a future inside clearance mid. There also a kid running around in the wafl on the Beagles list Hamish Brayshaw who had an excellent finals series. Big inside bull. Cheap as chips both of these probably.

I think with Ross, Graham and Pickett (inside and outside) we probably have it covered in the short term anyway. I was into B Crouch if we could get him for $600k but he's chasing the $ so that ship has sailed. He sure ain't worth $800-$900 in my book.

Take the Ellis salary cap relief. Lock in some of the good young kids and hit the draft for shits and giggles.

Hes had 5 yrs and nearly every time he has been given a game he has failed miserably. He has been constantly over taken by younger players .
We can say the same sort of thing for Markov neither are kids anymore they are both 23 and both should be offering far more than they do.

If in charge at another club im not sure id even entertain the idea of taking either one. If im bringing a mature afl player to a club id be wanting a proven one or a player who has shown he can play at the level consistently well.

Imo Menadue and Markov will probably look to greener pastures and we wont stand in their way . They have little trade value as it stands imo.
