Sorry to intrude. What do you think you guys would be willing to give up for Weiderman in terms of draft picks this year?

Havent heard anything just genuinely curious to see how other clubs rate what he's worth?

Round 2 pick . We would need to find one first.

Looked good on the weekend. Can't judge him off one game though.
I watched him on the weekend and to be honest, I didn't really see anything good about him or his game. Looked way off it imo. 6 touches @ 33%, no contested marks, no goals, 4 clangers. What part of his game looked good? Because, honestly, I just didn't see it.

Not aware that he's been tearing up the VFL either.

Good god.. and I thought some suggestions on this page were dubious. Thank Christ these fans aren't in our recruiting department! One bloke doesn't even know which end of the ground McGovern plays and the Goldstein in and Grundy to FF scenario is mind boggling:

'Sort out our defence'
I would try and push for a trade for Jake Lever, as we are sorely lacking in the defensive department. The midfield is stacked and the forward line is not too bad. We also need to delist some of the least-used players or try to trade for picks so we can lure Lever.
- Joshua Donnell, Devonport Tas

'Bring in the big boys'
Key position players are essential at both ends of the ground, so that would be the first area of attack in the off-season. Midfield and ruck stocks are quite considerable at the moment, so there is no need to go after players in these areas. Players like Adelaide pair Jake Lever and Mitch McGovern would be targets down back, and a handy second forward to possibly be an option or back-up for Darcy Moore and Ben Reid.
- Jesse Hone, Mooroolbark Vic

'Get Goldy'
Bring in Todd Goldstein and throw Brodie Grundy up forward, and that way we don't need to target a key forward. Ben Reid can play as third forward or go down back that way. Jake Lever is a must. Without a first-round pick we have to get creative.
- Abraham Herasan, Sunshine West Vic

Dream trades
Steele Sidebottom and a first-round draft pick to Gold Coast for Tom Lynch.
- Taylor Harrison, Melbourne Vic

Shaun Burgoyne for third-round draft pick.
- Paul Davis, Hamilton Vic

Matt Scharenberg and Scott Pendlebury to Adelaide in exchange for Jake Lever and the Crows' second-round selection. Steele Sidebottom and Collingwood's 2018 first-round selection to Gold Coast for Tom Lynch.
- Steve Merry, Northcote Vic

Second-round draft pick and a future first-round draft pick to Gold Coast for Peter Wright and second-round draft pick.
- Jayke Lloyd-Roeby, Diggers Rest Vic

Pendles and Schaz for Lever and a 2nd...

Keep that guy away from our list management.

I am starting to lean towards Motlop being a viable option through FA. Ticks all the boxes the club needs, elite skills, speed and at 26 could still play 100 games.

Don't know about the rumors regarding his body but I tend to ignore most BF opinion. Remember Crisp couldn't kick for shite and Varcoe was the softest player the AFL had ever seen.

Obviously, I'd expect the club to do their due diligence. So if Motlop made his way to the club through FA years end then I would be comfortable with that, it makes sense a hell lot more than the Mayne fiasco. Maybe the real target was Lyon! :flushed:

Motlop is the kind of guy that a team like Hawthorn could pick up and completely rejuvenate his career.

Whereas at other teams (including us) could be a complete bust. I dont trust his body or his level of motivation, and I dont think we have the right environment to get the best out of him right now.

Its reading stuff like this that reaffirms to me that a lot of the so called "experts" of AFL footy actually have NFI....

Anyone who has watched any of our games where Grundy has gone forward would know categorically, Grundy can't play as a forward. Very rarely you'd rate someone as a liability as a forward, but Grundy fits the bill. Doesn't mark enough, doesn't have any goal sense, and nearly lost us the game off his own bat vs the Crows with his FW50 pressure. Great ruckman, terrible forward.

Heavily criticized for bringing in Wells & Mayne, so their solution is bring in Burgoyne? Bloke turns 35 this year...

Tom Lynch deal is dumb, no way would they do that.

Since when is Peter Wright worth a first rounder? Bloke averages 0.4 goals a game... (edit: wrong)

Lets trade a 21 year old who has played 12 games yet is averaging 20 disposals a game and 8 marks for a bloke who is 21, has played 50 games yet averages less disposals (16.3 vs 20.4) and less marks (6.3 vs 8.0). Yes Lever is better than Shaz right now, but not by as much as some would think. Oh, and while we are at it, chuck in our captain, norm smith medal winner, 5 time AA and 5 time club BnF winner for a second rounder...

Give me strength

EDIT: Another hidden gem i noticed down the line. 3 team deal: Pies get Lever, Dons get De Goey, Crows get..... Aaron Francis? Does anyone even proof read these?

These are fan-submitted..
Makes so much more sense now... I thought they were giving some young footy analysts a crack. Thought id never heard of any of them.

Even though that's the case, you'd think they would only put up ones that somewhat make sense... Not sure i see the point in suggesting ridiculously one-sided/ nonsensical deals.

Not that I'm advocating it but if the club still had issues with what de Goey gets up to off field that last suggestion isn't the worst outcome if we retain pick 6 (though Essendon would need to add value for Adelaide)

I guess it all comes down to the value of a mid in de Goey against what we could get in an area of greater need in the draft.

Would i personally do De Goey for Lever, yes 100% I just don't know why the Crows would do the deal. Swap Francis for Parish and maybe thats enough but even then...

The worst one by far is Scharenberg and Pendles to Adelaide for Lever and a second. Wtf.

You might want to check your facts on Peter Wright. There's a reason he was touted as a number 1 pick in his draft year. As a comparison to our own Darcy Moore, whom I'm sure you wouldn't trade for less than a top 10 pick:

You're on the money with everything else though.

My bad, skimmed over the stats and went off GA (goal assists, did think 0.4 was much lower than i expected). I rate Darcy for the things that don't show up on the stat sheet, the crashing of packs and always making a contest. Darcy has shown signs of being a top 5 forward in the game, Peter Wright looks to be a solid forward but never a primary imo.

In any case, didn't Peter Wright just re-sign this year and extend his contract? Wouldn't make much sense for them to ship him off right away would it?

He re-signed last year I think. Doubt he will leave.

Obviously it was the two touches he had that didn't result in clangers. Bigfooty can be a harsh environment for some people!

Another tough one considering he was a top 10 pick but yet to make any impact at senior level..why has he not progressed into seniors yet?
To answer your question I think he's worth a late 1st round early 2nd as it stands.

Jack watts for a pick in the 18-25 vicinity would do it in a heartbeat

Reid, Moore and Watts with Elliot, Fas and WHE isn't s bad mix
