Hope we have a look at McLean from the swans. Out of contract, 197cm, 21 year old KPF who is a really good contested mark. I was big fan of him in his draft year before he went to the swans as a supplementary pick up for 2019, He has been playing mostly ruck for them due to necessity but I Think he has the scope to be a really good KF.
Another ruck from syd to be our KPF? No thanks 🤣

Yes it does sound very familiar... haha

In seriousness though Cameron was always a Ruc/Fwd whereas McLean is a genuine KPF imo that’s being pushed into the ruck for the swans due to injuries. If Naismith was fit (or Sinclair was any good) he’d be playing i50 for them I think

Dermie coached McLean in juniors at Beaumaris and always says his best position is ruck but he lacks the height to play there at AFL level

Not that I would claim to have more knowledge or insight than Dermie on him, but my opinion on him was the opposite. He lacks the endurance or mobility to have an influence around the ground as a ruck and at AFL level, as you say, he doesn’t have the height to dominate ruck contests and get clean hit outs.

His best skill set is his contested marking and his kicking ability, both which are best suited to him being a KPF.

Sounds like we’ve hamstrung ourselves by retaining list cloggers, so that we were unable to add an assessed talent at a position of need, and consoled ourselves by adding a 2021 pick which will probably just be used for points.

*slow clap*

We essentially chose Dunn/Reid/Varcoe/Broomhead over Riccardi, who as it turns out is having an impact on another game..

I like Hine but I feel like we've taken a number of players during his time that he rated due to their flexibility to play a number of roles but not sure many have turned into success stories.

Sometimes it's better to be master of one and right now Riccardi is projecting to be the key forward prospect we are looking for.

Annoying.

Imagine how zesty a forwardline with Riccardi, Ruscoe and DeGoey would be.

Rangy type that followed an unusual pathway to the AFL.

Wanted to (but nervous about) posting a hypothetical

What if our cap really is tight and the solution is to offload a player that no one wants to lose

Would you do the below if Grundy said he wanted to return home

Adelaide:
IN: Grundy
OUT: Pick 1 / Pick 2 (compo pick)

Collingwood:
IN: Pick 1 / Pick 2
OUT: Grundy

wouldn’t have a clue

was just suggesting how we might get pick 1

Not in this draft where the current crop's final year of development has largely been stifled.

Watching Sav Rocca footage on The Front Bar tonight - geez those were the days - Full Forwards who could take pack marks, launch 70m drop punts and regularly kick bags of 5-10 goals! Good times!

And to think MM told him to retire at age 26! Mason Cox didn’t even debut until that age!

Anyone know if Sav and/or Ant Rocca have any sons?

The AFL's process to finalise list sizes for 2021 is holding up some player contracts, as Josh Daicos and Collingwood negotiate a new deal.

Out of contract at season’s end, Daicos’ signature all of a sudden looms as an important one for the Pies, with Jordan De Goey and Darcy Moore also hitting the end of their agreements with the club this year.

Both parties want Daicos’ future secured at Collingwood but sources with knowledge of negotiations say a final deal likely won’t happen before list sizes are settled, and therefore salary cap clarity for next year is achieved.

Josh, the son of Pies legend Peter Daicos, has starred for his side in 2020 with his performances generating interest from rival clubs.

Coming out of a two-year contract at the end of season 2020 it’s likely a new deal at the Pies would also be for two seasons.

Those who have observed Daicos’ development closely in 2020 say his improvement has come off the back of more time as a winger - a position where he excels and can have more of an impact - as opposed to playing as a high half forward as he has in previous seasons.

Daicos and Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley had a heart-to-heart meeting at the end of last season where Daicos was told his career could go either way heading into 2020, depending on how he approached the final year of his contract.

The classy 21-year-old heeded the advice and has developed into one of Collingwood’s best trainers this season.

An important moment for Daicos’s development came when he was selected for the round seven clash against Geelong after missing the previous week due to an ankle injury.
It was a show of confidence by Collingwood in Daicos as a solid member of the best 22, when in previous seasons that automatic re-call may not have happened.
He has played every game this season except for the round six Hawthorn match, kicking 10 goals and having more than 20 disposals on six occasions.
Josh's younger brother Nick is one of the top youngsters in the 2021 draft pool.

Yeah not exactly sure why list size is a big issue with someone clearly best 22 now, perhaps it depends on the salary cap and how that looks but would much rather get this one tied down starting to really become a star.
Yup.

But that part about rivals circling. Rubbish. What rival has the nerve to try go after a Daicos lol Not even in question. I'd rather it get done sooner rather than later.
Hopefully the salary cap is known in the next couple weeks. Want to get this sorted asap, and not how we waited til near the trade period to sign Langdon back in 2018.
