Regarding Daics, zero chance he'll be leaving the Pies

And watching Ricciardi run around and the flow on from the draft night trade, am I the only one now expecting to see Collingwood throw a big offer GWS' way to secure Finlayson in a trade?! That would top it all off...

Yeah not exactly sure why list size is a big issue with someone clearly best 22 now, perhaps it depends on the salary cap and how that looks but would much rather get this one tied down starting to really become a star.
I think that the TPP and list sizes are linked in negotiations as in one effects the other. I suspect it’s probably the uncertainty in the TPP that is holding up the Daicos contract more than uncertain list sizes.

Ricciardi got GWS over the line last night, he looks promising but would love to see how he goes as the main forward. Cameron still gets the opposition attention. I think it’s one we missed.

Hope we have a look at McLean from the swans. Out of contract, 197cm, 21 year old KPF who is a really good contested mark. I was big fan of him in his draft year before he went to the swans as a supplementary pick up for 2019, He has been playing mostly ruck for them due to necessity but I Think he has the scope to be a really good KF.

Wouldn't he just be another Darcy Cameron type??

With Jeremy Cameron not in the best form, does it open up more of an opportunity for us to attract him to the Pies for a fresh start?

His next contract is apparently 1m +

He won the Coleman last year, although not in his peak form, it’s highly unluckily

I like Hine but I feel like we've taken a number of players during his time that he rated due to their flexibility to play a number of roles but not sure many have turned into success stories.

Sometimes it's better to be master of one and right now Riccardi is projecting to be the key forward prospect we are looking for.

Annoying.
Exactly id rather get some to play a role that we are lacking in that he is a master at instead of someone who is a jack of all trade and a master of **** all

Only if he's willing to take a pay cut you would think, and if that's the case you would expect the Giants to match and force us to the trade table.

Finlayson would be a mistake. And quite a significant one.

Yup this is the obvious one.
Riccardi is pretty much playing as the third key tall as Jezza gets KPD #1, and then HH and Finlayson get #2 and #3.
Most of last night I saw Riccardi matched up on blokes like Docherty and Williamson. Now no respect to those two guys but they’re no Weitering or Liam Jones when it comes to being a good KPD.
If we had Riccardi I’m 99% sure he’d have the Weitering match up and he blanketed Jezza Cameron. Giants have an amazing luxury that we do not have so it’s an interesting one to think about. He’s been amazing don’t get me wrong but as states would love to see how he goes as the #1 with the oppositions best defender.

The thing is that if Riccardi is in our team then suddenly there’s the question of who stakes Cox? Who takes Checkers? Even if Riccardi was being blanketed by Weitering, suddenly one of our other keys is getting a weak opponent. That’s the difference between having a Riccardi in the 22 vs a Cameron. Right now we have Cox and Checkers getting attention because Cameron isn’t a particularly large threat if he’s not blanketed. Teams wouldn’t have that luxury if we had that extra key tall. It’s a role JDG can play, but you’d rather see him playing a medium role and pushing someone like WHE out of the line up imo.

Agree, the mark and goal from just outside 50 was a very good sign.

opposition teams will work on strategies against him but GWS have some options with his inclusion

We can afford him if we tried.

1. De Goey + 2021 1st for Ben Brown + North's 2021 1st (values De Goey higher than Brown).

2. Off-load Mason Cox (550k salary) for a nothing pick to a team like Essendon/Brisbane, clear out Varcoe/Mayne/Reid/Beams/Wills and bring in rookies as substitute (gain roughly 500k in salary)

3. Trade Collingwood 2021 1st + North 2021 1st for Jeremy Cameron

It is definitely possible for us to have Cameron lining up at CHF and Brown at FF. Some may call this selling the farm, i think it's just basic list management common sense...

IF JDG is worth 30 goals a season and BB say 60 - I'd rather keep JDG, and find another player ( small fwd/crumber) to kick an extra 30 goals than trade JDG for BB. We would also retain the picks and cap space.
JDG is a gun and offers more flexibility and potential match winning attributes than BB.

Howe can absolutely be put in this category. He was regarded as a one trick pony at Melbourne, a forward who could sit on peoples heads once a game, or an ok-ish defender. He’s now regarded as one of the premier general defenders in the league and was tracking as an AA lock before injuring himself this year.
Dunn was in the twos at Melbourne and came across to us and became statistically the best 1v1 defender in the league until he did his knee. Roughead likewise, was fringe at the Dogs when he left and is now one of the most reliable full backs you could hope for.
Varcoe significantly improved after his move from Geelong, although Father Time has now caught up with him.
You’re spouting BS about stats but that means absolutely nothing if you’re going to ignore the players who’ve come to the pies and have actually improved. It’s easy to hang sh*t on a coach if you only acknowledge the failures and ignore the successes.
I do not likie hanging shit on any Collingwood coach, especially a current one,
The bottom line he has been there since 2012 and has nothing to show for it, he would be the only coach who would be given so much time.
I will agree that Crisp and Howe have been guns for us, the best thing with Varcoe is that we swapped him in a 3 way for Lumbumba.
With Dunn your clutching at staws he gave us a good half season in 2018 thats all.
Roughead has kept his spot but hasnt been anything special..How many other player has he brought in and havent done anything quite a few!

Dunn rated the second best 1v1 defender as per link below - so definitely NOT straw clutching.

Here's a link to the direct comparison between AA full back Harris Andrews and Roughead - these stats show that you're argument on Roughies contribution when compared to an absolute gun, is flawed.

Re the Coach - Top 4 and PF and GF in successive years, and Coach of the Year in 2018, shows again your simplistic view of the world - flags don't grow on trees.
