Trade for GWS Pick #1

A guy on the main board suggested this and I thought it was an okay deal

Collingwood lose - B.Reid, Pick 10-12
Collingwood gain - Pick 1

GWS lose - Pick 1
GWS gain - B.Reid, Pick 10-12

then once GWS have pick 10-12 they on trade that for Mumford.

I am not saying we should go for it but it is not a bad deal especially since GWS do want Mumford.
I'd rather go the other way.

We give Mumford to Collingwood for Reid.

Collingwood give Mumford and pick 10-12 to GWS for pick 1.

We don't have enough pairs of brothers at our club. Is Heath Shaw out of contract?

J. White + Pick 22
This is like the trade equivalent of a coin on a string in a vending machine.

Put it in, then pull it out.

You break the machine, but you've still got your coin, and a cola!

We are in the middle of a premiership window now why the frick would we trade away any best 22 players for a draft pick???

Ridiculous

No 1 draft pick trades should only be entertained for superstar players. I am aware of the Giants need for a bigger defender to play the CHB role but if there going to trade a no 1 pick for that sort of player it should be Taylor, Ben Reid has too many poor games and poor judgment calls to go for a no 1 pick.

Agreed. But if GWS want Mumford, and are willing to pay more than us, then we're better off looking for our best deal for him.

We did it to Geelong with Mumford, so i'm fine with it if it happens to us in turn. If he's out the door anyway, best to get top dollar or fill a need.

If we could swap Mumford out and get in Reid as part of a three-way deal so that Collingwood gets pick one, then go for it. We can pick up a spare ruckman somwhere for a lower pick.

Can't see him giving up his spot in a team who has a real crack at a premiership over the next few seasons to battle away with the wooden spooner for the next few years.

People sure seem to be in a state to get ridof Mummy. I can't see why, it's obvious we are better with him than without. If he gets an offre he can't refuse, ok we'll trade, otherwise we should be doing everything we can to keep him and the current list intact. number one pick is a lottery and we wouldn't be after a key forward, if we lost Mummy, we'd be looking for another ruck

Mumford wouldn't warrant B. Reid in a straight swap. An already declining ruckman for a young CHB who's previously been AA. Saying that, if it were somehow possible, grabbing Reid would ensure our Backline for 5+ years.

I don't see Mumford as declining, bit of bad luck with injuries, but ruckmen develop later than most. If Mummy is going, this is a deal I could live with

You've made some valid points in regards to Mumford, although that wasn't exactly the point. Despite how much I'd love B. Reid to be at the swans, Mumford wouldn't be enough trade wise to warrant his services.

I definitely think the Pies will be after pick 1, and Reid could be the perfect fit for GWS, given the Reid boys would love to be in the same city (the same club would be best, but that won't happen).

I can't see Mummy going to GWS though. I think he'd be pretty crap in an ordinary side. He might get all that money and hit the snags again.

I meant in reference towards his injuries and physical capabilities, he seems as if he's no longer capable to carry out a full season.

He has certainly had injury curtail his impact in the last two years, but I don't think you can write off a player that is 26 who has had a short-term bad run as "declining" or incapable of playing out a whole season. After getting beyond those interruptions his form over the last month or so was good and improving, until he unluckily received the high hit that broke his cheek. I don't think the current injury isn't the kind of thing that should have you questioning his ability to carry out a full season, it was a bit of a freak accident.

I still have questions on his physical capabilities, but you have raised some valid points.

I think we should run through every player in the sub-AFL competitions who has a father or brother who played or is playing professional football. This is based on Jack, Richards, Everitt, Kennedy, Mitchell, Shaw, Reid. Not eugenics or anything, honest.

We've already covered this - we should have Tippett, Marsh and Goodes

I can't see us getting pick one. There are other clubs out there way more desperate for the pick. And it would be a PR nightmare for GWS.

We can just grab Ben Reid next year for nothing;)
