Unreal how people just drop off Hocking after one season. Even more so since he played from round 8 with a stuffed shoulder (which he has had surgery on now) and really suffered from being knocked out in round 1 and losing 4 weeks of memory.
The bloke is not a star but there where reasons why he had an ordinary year and he was still one of only a few who we have that has any idea about defensive footy and playing a role in the side.
People need to take in a few interviews done about the Swans and players who are not stars but can play their role in the side.
Hocking has to get back to his better from from the previous 2 seasons as no one gets a free ride for too long but someone who can play the role has to come along to push him out and so far we have no one who can.
Agree, Hocking has easily earned his spot as our number 1 tagger....
I think Lonergan has to go, along with Dyson, Priss and Slatts..
Then pass the Moloney....

Come on yaco, you're better than the draft pick >>>>>> player mentality.

Think when it comes to a first rounder you go the draft, unless you get a bona-fide elite player - 2nd round on - You take it on a case by case basis.

I revealed it last Monday to one of your own posters who asked me via PM I'll let him verify that I did.

But only after it is announced of course.

Would Koby Stevens be an easier option than Caddy? Around the same age (koby a bit older) both hard bodied mids and have similar attributes. Question is what could we offer WC to make this happen? Gumby, Pears, Reimers or package 2 of the 3? maybe even our second rounder and one of those 3 players?

Thoughts?

Imagine these acquisitions

B Goddard
B Moloney
K Stevens

J Daniher

Yeah, he probably would be an easier option.

In the same way that Shannon Byrnes would be an easier option than Cyril Rioli.

The term "list clogger" has been mentioned many, many times. While every club has them, trading another in is ludicrous! Koby Stevens is just that. He is a good VFL/WAFL player, but he cannot kick! What would he bring to our side? Nothing. Use the draft pick on a kid with potential, not waste on a guy who is just not good enough.

It has been mentioned before (I forget who, but it was a good point), as much as we rate Gumbleton, we wouldnt be getting Broughton for him in a straight swap. Freo would want something more. I would love to see Broughton in the red and black, I rate him, but the cost has to be factored in. He is not going to be cheap, which is what Moloney and Goddard are. I want Broughton, but not at all costs.

One Stevens isn't that good i'd prefer NLM getting a game, secondly he is only worth a 3rd rounder not pears plus a 2nd or gumby and pears i'd maybe do a straight swap for reimers but thats it and lastly have you ever seen him play? He isn't that good.
prefer stevens on NLM anyday of the week.

So many threads not sure which one to post it in (but this seems the most on topic in regards to FA activity) - Moloney apparently offered 4 years (FB source) by Brisbane.. if so a little disappointed.

Koby Stevens is unfairly maligned on Bigfooty IMO, maybe due to the pre-draft hype that he'd be go early and his slide to the 2nd round I'm not sure. He's a tough as nails inside mid who could be a perfect fit for us and would come much cheaper than the likes of Caddy. Also dominated WAFL this year so has done everything but get a game for a solid Eagles lineup.

Four years for Moloney would be a poor decision by Brisbane, I wouldn't offer more than two.

Yeah, I still want Moloney, but wouldn't budge on 2. Four would be hard to turn down, but he did say he wanted to go to a finals team. Brisbane showed signs, but are a long way from contending.

Maybe given that he cannot get a game?

West Coast is hardly an all star side.

He is well behind guys like Masten and Swift. Something must be going wrong.

I'm pretty sure all the talk was that he wanted to stay in Melbourne, so if Brisbane really wanted him, they'd have to throw up something pretty enticing. Personally, with their list, I would have tried to throw a large amount over a shorter period of time as by the time that contract came up, their good younger players would deserve a greater chunk of the cap.
