A fair chunk of the time, yep.
I know they'd be told about who we might be after, and would have a hand in convincing a player to come to the club, chatting with them, meeting up or whatever. Wouldn't have expected them to have veto power though, which to me is sort of implied in the word 'consult' (like you 'consult the board'). Certainly they might raise issues that end up convincing the recruiters that there's more risk than they're worth, but yeah. Surprised me a little.

If I was Stringer, not sure I'd be so forthcoming next time I spoke with Coondog haha. Certainly seems to have fed the media a fair bit of their chat.
They are mates, so i think its pretty much what Jake wants out ther4

Strange that Cooney would say that the Bevo thinks that Stringer is lazy, and they he has things on and off the field to fix up... but is still worth pick 11. Seems more like a second rounder to me (ie in the Hibberd territory)

Geelong have pick 20 if we want him badly then we need to use pick 11 to trump them imo.

I don't think they can justify asking for a high-ish first tbh, yes he's an AA and all that, but that was 2 years ago. You trade based on the player he is now.

They've basically thrown him under the bus so as Cooney said, they're probably going to be forced to just take what they can get.

CREATIVE
I'd be trying to do something like:

Picks #11 and #28 to Brisbane for Schache and pick #18.

Then pick #18 to the Dogs for Stringer.

Then our future 2nd round pick plus this years 3rd for Kennedy.

Has us looking something like this next year:

FF: Stewart - Schache - Fantasia
HF: McTippa - Daniher - Stringer
C: Parish - Langford - Zaharakis
R: Zerrett - Bellchambers - Heppell
HB: Gleeson - Hooker - McKenna
FB: McGrath - Hurley - Francis
I/C: Goddard - Laverde - Kennedy - Begley
EMER: Myers - Leuenberger - Ambrose

With our 2018 1st round pick (looking a nice draft for star quality) and players like Ridley, Redman, Mutch, Draper still to develop

I feel like we are in a funny position as a club. In an unfamiliar transitional phase of core mindset.

We have never been a big fish chaser, but we realise the landscape has changed and right now we need to mercilessly chase one...but we cannot look like norf in doing so. No matter what happens we are too proud to beg...we are bigger and better than that.

Part of me thinks we will miss again and Trott out the old cop out, we are a draft and development club..to make us feel better for not picking up. But it won't cut it this time.

We need to go hard and strong....but not so much as to look embarrassingly desperate and needy like norf.

Fine line.

I think it comes with the territory. If you always go after the most attractive option, you also have cope with being shot down. However, if you land one, the losses are quickly forgotten.

Feels like normally we just stand at the bar, putting out the vibes...but making no moves.

Hawthorn and Geelong go straight for the hotties and leave by 11, he who dares!

Norf spend all night buying girls drinks then go home alone after multiple rejections

Last 3 years we lost our hot girlfriend so you can imagine why we are nervous. But we have been in the DMs of some hotties and we are starting to get our confidence back up.
