Im with you...there's a squeeze on spots why would they hand it too a 33y/o.

People banging on about Lake...he was 31 when he went to the Hawks. Tarrant will be 33 at the start of next season.
lake was also recruited when hawthorn just lost a grand final as the favourite, not came 12th with 2 stalwarts (including a vital player in houli) retiring, and an ageing midfield which suffered a year of injuries, large drop off in form and the captain stepping down.

a 4th flag next year is a hawthorn 2018 pipe dream.

Get Talia and Tarrant. Hell, go get a 3rd KPD too.
Just do whatever it takes to get Garthwaite off the list.

LOL Tarrant wont leave Norf

But they will need to give him the extra year now
Really? He aint winning a premiership at North
Isn’t Tarrants back rooted? Older than Talia and a worse injury this year. Big risk offering the 2 years we’d need to get him out.

Think I’d still rather Talia tbh
No he had a lump removed from his kidney which had him miss the first half of the season

You are retired a long time in this game. Last season will have freshened Tarrant up again. North obviously think he can go around for 2 More years. So why not have a crack at getting him across. Don’t think he’ll Leave North but stranger things have happened

Don't we lose the compo pick for Chol if we get a free agent ? Which probably wont be great in itself, but will be used for Dogs or Collingwood to get points

I feel he’s a better player than Talia but I also look at Talia who’s two years younger and has been delisted so he’ll be on a lesser contract and won’t affect our Chol compo.

Tarrant has a two year deal on the table at North and would still be one of their better earners. If he comes we’ll have to offer him a far more competitive deal that Talia and either include him in a potential CCJ deal to protect our compo and get less in return for that deal or we sign him as a free agent and most likely lose out compensation pick.

I want us to challenge next season and Miller/Biggie/Garth just aren’t at the level to be playing regular football next year in a team wanting to play in the top four so I can recognise the importance in getting a ready made FB. However I do want to continue thinking about the future so I want to bring in a cheap option with an outlay of next to nothing.

might not be a popular opinion but I honestly think CCJ will go well past Soldo as a player and that will happen in the next 2 years.

but is it worth paying ccj double just to stay with us rather than pay a real tiger like soldo that would put his testes on the line for us in ww3

I feel most people would agree with this CCJ has a more rounded game, they’re very different types of talls.

It’s really hard comparing a fella who wants to be here and has signed a new player with someone who wants to leave and won’t sign a new contract though.

If we’re only getting pick 38 for CCJ, we could make Tarrent part of the Trade to avoid diluting the Chol compo. Kangas get no compo for losing a 32 yo free agent so the trade becomes CCJ for Tarrent & 38 And we don’t pick him up as a FA.
That seems like a win-win.

He’s not strong, quick, agile or super tall. McEvoy is the best he could turn out from what I’ve seen.

Cats according to Mitch Cleary have offered Tarrant a 7 year deal part of their youth policy
Be more specific dude! The Cats have offered 4 years with a trigger. If Tarrant can play more than 15 games across the 4 years it automatically triggers a 3 year extension which is heavily back loaded with more $$$ to sweeten the deal. Tarrant will be right on 40 when he leaves the Cattery if he decides to go this way unless they offer him another extension which is highly probable.

Who’s next, Jake Carlisle?

Collingwood midfielder Brayden Sier is on the hunt for a new home.

The man who starred in the 2018 Grand Final, but has since been hit by injuries, is unlikely to be offered a new contract by the Magpies.

But Sier, who is still only 23, is expected to generate interest over the next few weeks which could yet result in a lifeline at another club for next season.

Sier played 12 games in 2018 and shone in the premiership decider, gathering 21 possessions in the engine room.

But the man who was taken pick No. 32 from Northern Knights fell out of favour over the past two seasons under Nathan Buckley and Robert Harvey and is looking for a fresh start.

At his best, Sier is a tough-tackling hard nut who could bolster a team’s clearance work.

There is strong competition for fresh onball opportunities with ex-Saint Luke Dunstan, Gold Coast’s Will Brodie and Geelong’s Charlie Constable also looking for another team.

Tarrant would be a great fit, forget his age, as he missed so much footy in his early years after being drafted. He is a Fitness freak, so you would back him in. You have to offer him 2 years to get him to leave and now is the time to go again with Jack, Cotch, Edwards, Grimes, Dusty etc getting on . He fits a specific need re key back. If he doesn’t leave north, happy to give Talia a go. We will go to the draft and get some quality kids for the future as well, so it all balances out.

it seems like the sorting of CCJs deal has come late in the year and was underwhelming at 2 years for what 300kpa?

he's not worth what north are paying but at the same time our offer should be better than that

Yeh it's a good point!
Haven't seen the club held to Ransom by any player. Even with Dusty we didn't overpay we just let the market set the price and Bolton was unders.
It's disappointing to lose him as he straightens us up for 2-5 years time but attitude is a big part of our culture
