I don't see any reason why we shouldn't hold Raz to his contract for one more season.

- It gives him another 12 months to get on the park and show the goods again. He will be motivated and end up with a bigger contract then he will get now.
- We benefit from that all season
- We get more than pick 10 next year
- Or we have some success and he stays, and reaffirms his champion status with us

It's too easy to forget what a super player he is. Even for pick 10 I'd rather keep him. The odds of him getting healthy are higher then us drafting someone with his talent with pick 10.
Play hard ball.
I don't reckon he's intent on going anyway. His attitude towards being asked yet again if he was moving on when he got to Adelaide seemed more one of contempt than being cagey. I'd rather he stays as well but if he goes he's a top ten pick or a player.

Bit different when those players are aligned to those clubs full time, while ours have nab league/ private school/ club football

And there is the issue which makes ours a bit mickey mouse.

2 contracted players are rumoured to want a trade. There’s problems at the Bombers but are the players really unhappy? We’ve pretty much re-signed everyone we wanted to, wouldn’t that be a reasonable indication they’re happy (if not then content - which sounds like the club as a whole)?
Another typical negative Purple slant.

Do we know if the club has finished exit interviews? And whether or not everything went smoothly? Laverde's and Langford's would have been interesting - goals over the break.
Goals during games would be Laverdes aim :p

They have to give something. If Essendon said we'll trade you fantasia for either Wines, Duursma, Marshall or pick 10 your choice what are Port off loading.
I get that, considering what Todd has been through the past 24 months. The club won’t trade him unless he wants it. I doubt they’d even ask the question of him.

People honestly think we'd get a 1st for Fantasia? I have my doubts.

Yeah not sure - he is slightly framed and injury prone - only 75 games in 6 years at the club - that's just 12.5 per year which is worse than Dainher who has played 99 during this time at 16.5 per year. Still - Fantasia is all class and if he can get his body right he's worth a first rounder.

Same with Joe, it's a big if. Love a late first but feel early 2nd is more realistic.

Essendon lose; Orazio Fantasia
Essendon get; Pick 16

Port Adelaide lose; pick 10
Port Adelaide get; Orazio Fantasia

Brisbane lose; Pick 16, pick 21
Brisbane get; Pick 10

Essendon lose; Joe Daniher
Essendon get; Pick 5, Pick 9

Sydney lose; Pick 5, Pick 9
Sydney Gain; Joe Daniher

Take picks 5, 9, 16 to the draft along with picks 31 & 37 and we'll have a decent hand come draft night. Wouldn't surprise me if we try and bank our investments in the second round for future second rounders or even move up the order this year (or next).

Free Agent: Ruckmen from somewhere. I like what Zac Smith can do. Handy enough for 2 years whilst Sam Draper recovers.

Draft;
(Pick 5) Brodie Kemp - genuine big bodied player. Coming off an ACL but sounds like this kid could be anything.
(Pick 9) Luke Jackson - Best ruck from this years draft. With the picks we may likely have, I'd be going for a need than a best available.
(Pick 10) Sam Flanders - Best available.
(Pick 31) Cooper Stephens - Pipe dream but this is another kid who could be anything.
(Pick 37) Hugo Ralph Smith - An astutue pick that could become a utility type in the front half.
(Pick 49) Jake Riccardi - Best available and someone who I think will surprise many next year as a young KPF.
Where does Pick 21 go? And why do you have pick 10 as ours when we have 16?

So you're not going to acknowledge the 21 games of VFL in his first two years because he was as skinny as a rake? Your point is overly simplistic and you know it.

If Port gave up pick 10 for Raz why would we include a 3rd club to get a lesser pick?
In your scenario, I don't see where Pick 21 went. I would prefer we landed 10, but it seems you intended that we on- trade to Brisbane for 16 and 21?

I probably could have listed it better but;

1) Port Adelaide split pick 10 with Brisbane's 16 & 21
2) Port Adelaide then o trade pick 16 to Essendon for Fantasia.

It's a no from me. Fantasia is a top 10 pick or a player I reckon.

The more I think about it, the more it seems less likely we don't get anywhere near what we rate him as.

Us Essendon supporters know his true worth when he is up and going. Truth be told though, he has not once played 22 games. His best is only 39 goals which put him on the cusp of AA squad nomination 2 years ago. He is not a great tackler by small forward comparisons, nor is he a high possession player. Preaching to the choir here but the upside of keeping him imho is bigger than the amount we'd likely receive at this point in time.

The other player I would seriously be asking the question of is Willem Drew.

190cm, Inside Midfielder from North Ballarat Rebels so a somewhat local boy. Obviously only just broken into the Power line up but at 21, his upside is huge imho. Can't have enough ranga's either. Something we've lacked in recent times

Marty Gleesons cousin too.

Drew + pick 29 would do me, no worries

Much prefer over SPP.

To be honest, this is the big sticking point for me.

We already hold two second rounders (31 & 37). Do we need another second rounder that we likely don't even actively use?

I wouldn't mind looking to a future second + Drew for Raz.
