Would you be willing to use a national draft pick on him?

I've seen this question asked a couple of times (and how high a pick in the case someone asked about Jack Martin fwiw) and it isn't a bad indication of how highly you rate said player.

On Robertson, it's a no.

Jarryd Lyons, Ricky Henderson, Matthew Wright, Tim Membrey, Joel Hamling, Mitch Robinson, Dylan Roberton are prime examples of DFA being genuinely good pick ups. But they were all delisted for a reason, hey?
Jarryd Lyons. Averaged 25 touches in his final season with the Suns, everyone said the Suns were nuts for delisting him at the time.

Ricky Henderson. Proven solid player at the Crows, slipped into the Hawthorn system nicely, averaged more touches in his last season at the Crows than his first 2 at Hawthorn (20+).

Matthew Wright. Fringe role player at a finals club picked up by the cellar dwellers to stop them having to play multiple kids. Still only got 2 seasons.

Membrey. Young promising forward who Sydney couldn't play in a side with Franklin, Reid and Tippett.

Hamling. Young KPD who couldn't break into Geelong's strong defense.

Mitch Robinson. Proven solid role player let go by his club for lying about an off field indiscretion.

Dylan Roberton. Requested a trade, was delisted when one wasn't found.

Nick Robertson (if we picked him up). Average role player in and out of the side, couldn't get a game when his team hit the top 4. Picked up by a side aiming for top 4.

He's not remotely like the others.

I was asking Eth dog about using a draft pick on Robertson as eth mentioned playing him as a big bodied ball winning mid. I personally hope we're not interested.

That comment wasn't advocating anyone. It was simply saying that not every player delisted is necessarily a "spud".

Also you might want to check how many years Wright was at Carlton before he retired.

As for Robertson? I think he can play a role at Essendon. Would I rather Mitch Hibberd in the SSP? Absolutely.

And I was just pointing out the player you think can play a role is nothing like the others you used as examples.

And yes Wright was 3 seasons not 2, well done completely invalidated my point.

So the point I was making in that post was valid? Okay, thanks.

I was just being pedantic like you were.

I have absolutely no idea how you've achieved this conclusion.
Of course you don't . Is my point of "all delisted players aren't spuds" valid? Yes? Great, let's move on.

Why not use a pick on Hibberd in the national draft?

Truly bizzare stuff.

Ok Eth, whatever you need to say for the "win." :)
From you? Yes, it was.
Why not use a pick on Hibberd in the national draft?
Why use a draft pick when we can get him without one? He doesn't have to enter the draft and we can get him for free, like we did Clarke.

Paddy mccartin delisted.....

thoughts?

He's delisted because his brain needs time. If he was good to go they wouldn't have delisted him. Maybe in a year depending on the medical news.

Check out how many under 21's on EFC's list ? Yet some want to avoid youth in this year's draft - Our list demographics will be skewered.

Move that arbitrary line from 21 to 22, like the AFLPA do when naming their best young 22, and we go from 2 to 8.

Suddenly we're looking around 20% of the list 22 and under.
