If only M. Brown averaged 2.9 goals a game and 1.6 contested marks a game like B. Brown or 2.5 goals a game and 2.2 contested markes a game like Tom Lynch.

Hell I would take the 2.3 goals and 1.6 contested marks by Hawkins.

Nope. We got 1.3 goals and 0.5 contested marks a game from a guy people are upset we delisted because of KPF depth...

fu** me dead.

His stats don’t matter, it almost doesn’t even matter what his name is.

What matters is that an overarching pattern is emerging with our list moves that can best be described as ‘scattergun’ or perhaps ‘zany’.

This does nothing to dispel any of that. He’d be a really good get for someone like North or Hawthorn, rock solid, ardent, role player.

In a team with everyone fit, he doesn't get a game. EFC surely are a middle of the road side again in 2020, I'm OK with rolling the dice on someone who is a genuine KPF size to start developing as a replacement.

What is scattergun about it?

What was Browns role next season if on the list?

What is the other scattergun list choices we have made?

So far we have had 2 retirements. (Can't do anything about it) 3 cuts from the main list (Long, Houlahan and Brown) three of the rookie list (McNeice, Jok and Z. Clarke)

In that time we have picked up a wingman and backup ruck which both replace and are better than who we got rid of. (Z Clarke and Jok)

For what it's we worth I completely agree with you in terms of list management.

Ruthlessness is being celebrated but we only ever cut into players we never really give a chance to as though if we fake it hard enough maybe the midfield that fails, will become something better.

I'm glad Brown is gone. He's not depth he's a link to a style of game that will never work and that's why he's gone.

Having said that it's bizarre that he's gone from essentially best 22 to delisted as a 28yo.

Our list management/game development strategy is best summed up by the South Park headless chook wheel of fortune policy.

So who should have been cut this year?

See nothing wrong with Brown going. We make the investment in a game style that is obviously going to be more aligned with how Richmond Play (pressure and individual game sacrifice for team success) and I would point to Brown being arguably the worst pressure player on our list. Has a big engine, admittedly, but was more about his own reward for effort. Just had to watch him running around on the park to see it... time and time again.

This is a move that will have genuine negative impacts next year.

There’s being ruthless and there’s being stupid, our delistings this year have been more stupid than they have ruthless
Yeh, I don't think we'll have any trouble replacing a key forward who can't mark the ball, bring the ball to ground, or defend. A small or medium will be an improvement on his position if we run out of key forwards.

Anyone and everyone connected to the footy department pre 2018, probably.

But more to address what you are saying 2 things can be true at the same time.

The delisting of Brown can be both a good thing, because he's not a style of player a serious team plays, and the latest contradiction of list management and game style developments, etc.

That's what I was getting at when I quoted Zach Package. A simple "like" indicates that I also disagree with Brown's delisting.

What an interesting and different off-season.

I can feel it all coming together. Shaping the list with purpose. This draft is going to deliver a couple of gems, and we’re finally going to WIN ONE FINAL!!!
Richmond broke that drought and went on to win a flag a few weeks later.
Ill wait for that finals win if it means we kick on and dont pat ourselves on the back....a la making finals in 2017
