Is this a big footy rumour that you are perpetuating, or first hand knowledge from all the time you've spent at Collingwood training with him over the past 5 years?
It's second hand but there have been other incidents, I trust the guy who's told me this. The Basketball thing would be enough for me regardless.

Not sure why everyone is so quick to want to delist Townsend, we need more of his type, not less.. we severely lack mongrel and he provides it in spades.. throw him in the guts the last 2 games and see what happens I say.. guarantee you he would win more clearances than our current crop. Could be Greenwood like...

I'd keep him for reasons above, I wouldnt put him in the middle. He's a decent 3rd tall in forward line, I dont see him as a mid.

Doubt a club would ever do it tbh, It could turn out amazing and be the reason you become a powerhouse or it completely destroys you for another decade.

Well that might be extreme but we need to become smarter and more ruthless in our list management. The strategy of holding on to players for far too long has failed us time and time again.

I think we’re also past the scandal in that we don’t need to trade in players for the optics of the post saga recovery.

Just say you did put all players above 25 on the table, who do you think we'd actually get offers for? And from which teams?

Hypothetically...

Saad, Shiel, Jake, Joe, Tippa, Smith, Stewart, Heppell, Zaka and Hurley could all get gigs elsewhere I think

Saad Pick between 10-20 and depending on the 1st pick something a little extra - Blue or Tigers
Shiel Same as Saad - Saints
Jake Pick between 20-30 - GWS
Joe Band 1 or 2 so after our 1st or end 1st round
Tippa Pick between 17-25 - GWS or Brisbane
Smith Pick between 30-40 - ??
Stewart 3rd/4th round pick = ??
Heppell, Hurley and Zaka are hard to place because of contracts.

Ah, that old chestnut.
Are you saying that he's professional about his injury management and recovery? Because public evidence says otherwise too. Given that, it's not a long bow to draw that there have been other incidents too

I think the problem there is the last 5 players i couldnt see anyone trading for them. Then with Joe, Stringer and Tipungwuti you'd be giving away your 3 most experienced forwards and would leave no one to kick the goals. Maybe let Joe go if he asks again and hopefully it gets us a 1st. Shiel for a 1st youd have to listen to. Saad we dont want to lose but if we wants to go, a 1st and cap space could help a quick Port Adelaide style rebuild. If we did that we could potentially end up with 4 1st round picks to build a midfield for Draper to work with.

I will back you up on this. Have heard the same about his efforts not being 100% focused on footy or recovery at times.

Anyone keen to completely blow up the list? imagine putting all players above 25 on the table
To be blunt. Personally I think we need to be brutal. We either need the best trade period ever by any club or we have to bite the bullet and admit we need a deeper rebuild.

Saints will not touch Sheil. Ratts is already on record about weeding out players with poor skills.
Saad is worth top 10. Top 14 minimum.

I’d almost do the opposite. You obviously do the requisite cutting if you believe they can’t help us (see Zaharakis) but I’d prioritise meaningfully experienced hard asses that can help the midfield group develop the way we want to play on the track and in games.

Someone who can do what Hodge did for Brisbane’s defence. Took a bunch of talented pieces (which we have, don’t get that part twisted) and weaponised them.

I like the brutal approach. Would be a totally foreign to anything EFC has done in the past, but at least it would be some sort of statement. Better then fluffing around with bog average players clogging up the list for 5-7 years.

Ironically Saad is one of about 5-6 players that i would deem untradeable in terms of what they bring to the club (Saad, McGrath, Ridley, Draper, Walla and Daniher if fit) on our list, and he is one that is OOC and apparently talks have stalled.

Anyone else i would at least hear the offer, and with Joe and maybe Saad at this rate we may not have a choice.
