Trade McGovern or Barrass

Had a very, very good year, despite what some numpties on here would have you believe.
That's being generous. I don't think anyone on here had him as one of our top 5 players this year.
He had a few great games, he had a few shocking games. The gulf between his best and worst is great, which is not something you want from a key defender.

I can see how Barrass finished so high. Didn't miss a game, held down a key defensive post every week when Gov missed almost half the season.

That's not to say I agree with him as 4th best, but he was an important player.

Ive posted for years about Barasses bad habit of not collecting the body.He tries to go all ball no body and for a key defender that can cost !.My knock on Gov is not his accountability but his use by Simmo. Why oh why do we watch WC getting mugged and Guv sitting there like a stale bottle of piss.Talent wise hes in our top three.Surely he should be thrown into the action more often. Not the old obligatory stint at CHF but the guts.If hes not going well in defence and the play is being taken away from him then take him to the play.
-Simmo needs to have a long hard look at how Essendon used one J Hird.

I'd actually be open to trading McGovern if the offer was good enough.
Brilliant player but injury prone, 29 next year. I'm waaaaaaay too hungover to come up with a decent hypothetical however.

Interested in what people think his value would be?
Trade him for Cripps from Carlton

I don't mind it but I'd imagine a lot on this board won't like it.
Cripps is younger, I'd be very keen for a very thorough medical first. (Weird to think they're basically the same height)

We'd need to find KPD somewhere too, preferably one that can lock down.

I think we would be fine as a club if we traded McGovern, it won't happen but it's not a bad idea. Certainly would get a top 10 pick from a side needing to plug a big gap down back. Gov probably has 3 years left in him due to his fragile body.

Dont want to play finals? Lets worry about 2025 & be ordinary for a few years. If you dont get a fair dinkum AA level replacement (Paddy Cripps), dont bother with a Sam Snivla in the draft.

Trading Barrass or McGovern for a draft pick (or even multiple picks) would be a really poor decision for a club in our position. The only thing worth trading either of them for is an AA level inside midfielder (for Gov) or an AA-squad level midfielder (for TB). But that level of trade is not the sort of thing that happens all that often league wide - we've had two in our history (Judd/JK and Kelly).

But the chances of us trading out a WA local who is in our best 10 players - Gov and TB both fit this criteria - is extremely unlikely. I can't think of any gun WA guys we've traded out ?

Isnt Cale Hooker being offloaded? Trade one of McGovern or Barrass plus a player like Petrecelli and get Hooker and Cripps. I know WC team would be much better then

We would be a far better team with Cripps than we are with Gov.
