"After 12 senior games in two years, Gold Coast ruckman Tom Hickey wants to continue his career with a Melbourne-based club and is seeking to be traded" (from the Australian)

Not sure if I have made this up, but i do believe we were linked to Hickey in some form a month back?

He'll be a Saint, I reckon.

I think you have overloooked that apparently Hawthorn are interested in Lake ... not that the Bulldogs are interested in offloading him! So it is up to Hawthorn to make it attractive if they want to get their man. There no responsibility on the dogs in this one. You want him, you pay for him .... simple.

I think you have overlooked that the reports that suggest the Hawks are interested in landing Lake are very sketchy at best.

If the Dogs are seriously rebuilding Lake may look at an opportunity at the Hawks, who knows. However, he is not worth a 1st round pick at age 31. He is probably somewhere between our 1st and 2nd, so perhaps if we move someone else on for a lower 2nd rounder it would get closer to the mark.

I suspect this is entirely media driven though. Lake's name comes up every year linked to the Hawks.

2nd pick and Ellis would be ideal for us I'd say.

Pies would be able to afford him if they trade Wellingham and Daws, Tarrant has retired and they have a few players going onto the veterans list....

Tarrant was on essentially minimum wage, in an attempt to win a flag. Dawes is going nowhere, and Wellingham is getting squeezed out due to salary cap issues anyway. They already have a number of players taking significant pay cuts to pay for re-signing their stars. I can't see it happening

Who would seriously want him?

He begun getting more out of favour Rossy Lyon as the year went on as is form went down and he got replaced by Jon Griffin.

And now that makes him a spud.......because a young Ruckman wasn't first choice at his club....Like i said he's 22 and 2 years off his prime years of football, he's athletic , quick, good mark and clean skills.....he's from a spud.

I'm not saying we should go after him because frankly we have more pressing needs and holes to fill.....but to say hes a spud is ridiculous comment.

I'd be interested in Clarke but it all depends on the price. Is he worth our first rounder? But if we take him for mine it means we've decided Lowden / Maximus aren't our future....
Who knows what we'll do.

He is a spud, very inconsistent.

I think I remember last year that Collingwood were after him.
He is far from a spud. Developing talls are generally inconsistent in their output, especially one who finds himself playing a number of different roles. He can take a good grab, is fast, kicks goals.

I would take him

Fair enough mate, though in IMO I wouldn't get him with the likes of Lukey Lowden coming up the ranks.

With Carlton missing out on Cloke, I would suspect them to be very interested in Tippett. I can see them ordering en extra run of paper bags from Visy to help getting the deal done.

As for Zac Clarke, from what I've seen he would be an asset. He takes contested grabs, and that's something we need.

They were also very keen on Goddard.

The big fish tactic isn't a great one, I don't think. Too much can go wrong. One superstar might lift your team by 5%, but getting your second tier players to lift as a group lifts your team by about 20-25%. I know where my focus would be.
