Sounds fair enough to me, Pessimistic. I see this thread as my one stop for finding any news on Hawthorn's movements. I generally tire quickly of trawling through pages and pages of make believe crap where "we should target xxxx, and offload yyyy" is the norm.

I'd expect him to be #1 for Brisbane & GC, sure, but I'm not sure either were going to be big players (other than Caddy)?

Doesn't seem like Pies were waiting on Tippett.

Carlton are one club who (from my understanding) have missed out on a couple of players they were very interested in. Not sure if they're in the race for Tippett though. TI think what happens this week will shape what some clubs will do during the trade period proper.

Fair enough.
They could really do with another not-quite-ruck, not-quite-full-forward.

We'll see how it all plays out. Some whispers that there might be a surprise or two still to come re free agency.

We don't need a million dollar full forward that averages 2+ goals a game and blacks out every time he gets a clip over the ear.

Key defenders and quality mids with pace, ball winning ability and skill please.

And a goal kicking coach, please:thumbsu:

Geez I would take him. Frees up Roughie to go key fwd or back.

Don't know why we aren't going after tom gillies again, looks like he has potential although i understand he will probs get a go now that scarletts retired. But in terms of going after defenders, mitch brown looks like the pick of the bunch
Because he's genuinely rubbish. Saw him a few times in the VFL. No better than blokes like Litherland. If we want him he will probably be delisted soon enough anyway.

We should be all over Zac Clarke though.

Kurt Tippett Update:

"Sources close to Tippett according to the Herald Sun believe Tippett is Collingwood bound, and has spoken already with recruiting duo Derek Hine and Matthew Rendell."

Forward line of Cloke, Lynch & Tippett....scary...

What are the Pies going to offer the Crows? He isn't a free agent and has to be traded. They won't be able to afford him anyway.

Allegedly it will be Wellingham to WCE for pick 17, then picks 17 and 18 to Crows for Tippett.

Pick 17 for Wellingham seems overs to me but that is the rumour I heard.

Which is why I thought someone like Bate would be a more sensible target. I'm just hoping a rumour circulates somewhere, then we are OK to discuss it here

I heard on the grapevine that Bate is looking for a new home ;)

But don't see how he could add to our team, must be 25-6 now and has constantly failed to live up to potential. Pretty much the same as Brad Miller before him but Bate doesn't have a hot wife so no point recruiting him

Regarding Tippett:

"The 25 year old has shocked his team-mates by not seeking a go-home trade to the Gold Coast but a move to the highest bidder, which will become a match race between AFL premier Sydney and Collingwood".

Full credit to Collingwood. Solid backline, awesome midfield, forward line that was at times dysfunctional this year. So what do they do? Go out hard to find another key target, and a player to take the ruck/forward role. Master stroke if it comes off. I wish we had the same ruthlessness, wasted 4 years because we didn't go hard enough for a true KPD.

Yet Geelong are chasing Rivers.

With players like Buddy, Rough, Hodge and Mitch accepting unders for years I don't like the fact that the club could then splurge cash on a player like Tippett. What would Buddy think if Tippett came in on more money than him, and is Tippett worth more than Buddy? HELL NO!

I would prefer the club went for players similar to Gunston that are young and have potential to improve whilst providing a role for the team. If a 28+ year old player wants to come to hawthorn because of a chance at success they need to accept less money than they may get at their current or other club.
It wouldn't happen. The leadership have a big say on who joins Hawthorn, and where they'll sit in the pecking(salary) order.

We will not be trading for someone who will upset the balance.
