Gibbs for Tippett, Carlton would be mad not to make that offer IMO.
Have Carlton ever actually sought out a player in trade week and landed them?
They couldn't even secure Kilkenny (spelling?) without another team taking him from under their nose

Judd?
They were also very keen on Goddard.
The big fish tactic isn't a great one, I don't think. Too much can go wrong. One superstar might lift your team by 5%, but getting your second tier players to lift as a group lifts your team by about 20-25%. I know where my focus would be.
Regarding Tippett:
"The 25 year old has shocked his team-mates by not seeking a go-home trade to the Gold Coast but a move to the highest bidder, which will become a match race between AFL premier Sydney and Collingwood".

Apparently Swans have room in their salary cap.Seems odd that two top 4 teams are the ones who can offer the most. Feels like a media beatup to me.
Don't know why we aren't going after tom gillies again, looks like he has potential although i understand he will probs get a go now that scarletts retired. But in terms of going after defenders, mitch brown looks like the pick of the bunch
But he's trade only.I reckon until this domino falls, it will be fairly quiet.
With players like Buddy, Rough, Hodge and Mitch accepting unders for years I don't like the fact that the club could then splurge cash on a player like Tippett. What would Buddy think if Tippett came in on more money than him, and is Tippett worth more than Buddy? HELL NO!
I would prefer the club went for players similar to Gunston that are young and have potential to improve whilst providing a role for the team. If a 28+ year old player wants to come to hawthorn because of a chance at success they need to accept less money than they may get at their current or other club.
I'd expect him to be #1 for Brisbane & GC, sure, but I'm not sure either were going to be big players (other than Caddy)?Yes, you're right. Just think there are a few clubs who are hanging on the Tippet situation.
