I hope we aren't playing our cards late with the hope of getting someone on the cheap. Usually means we miss out.

Trade period hasn't started yet, so I don't think so. (Starts 8 October 2012.)

We just won the minor premiership and played in a grand final. With no obvious aspects of our squad weakening (lost Bateman, Bruce, will miss Whitecross for half season), plus organic growth from our young talent, I don't really see any pressing need for us to be active at all. At a stretch, I'd be happy to trade away some unneeded depth (eg Lisle in 2011), to move up the draft order, but there are no obvious candidates imo, apart from, potentially, Osborne if he requested a golden handshake.

Just reported on FSN that Blues chasing Scott Gumbleton as key forward.

I recall he played both key posts as a junior at Peel. Not sure what state his body's in but would come cheap. Anyone have any intel on him?
Geez they know how to attract spud kpf's :)

P.s Someone is having a blast making up these rumours.

Ever heard of the Infinite Monkey Theorem? (Which, on reflection, is a pretty good description of much of Big Footy.)

It goes like this for the uninitiated:

The infinite monkey theorem states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare. That's according to Wiki.

Well, I don't expect you to believe me, but, for what it's worth, me and my infinite monkeys are responsible for all the trade news. Actually, I'd prefer to refer to them as 'possible news stories' not rumours. After all, with an infinite amount of monkeys some of the stories will come true.

This is how it works: I've rented a secure facility out on an industrial estate in Cambelfield. Right next door to the bikie meth lab flying under the cover of 'Barney's Wholesale Florist Supplies'.

So my infinite (you'll have to take my word for that) number of monkeys sit there around the clock typing away at trade rumours.

And each day, Robbo, Damien, Jabba the Hutchy and a bunch of other iPad wielding arse-clowns make the pilgrimage out to consult the infinite oracles in their quest for infinite hard news stories.

Hell, I've even got an old Black Thunder OB van parked out the back and that's where Trade Radio broadcasts from. If you turn the volume up and listen carefully, you can hear the soft clack-clack of typing and the occasional plop as poo is flung around. I'll hasten to add that's either Hutchy or Robbo doing the flinging, never me monkeys.

Hope that answers your question, Echols.

I actually wouldn't mind one of the Delaney brothers if we were to land a KPD. I have no reason whatsoever to think that we would be interested but it would make sense.

Luke would come very cheap and is out of favour. He isn't a great footballer but is a good lock down player and would come as cheap depth. A cheaper Mitch Brown, if you will

Cam wouldn't be ready next year but has potential and could look to go elsewhere because he has quite a bit of competition for his spot

Gold, absolute gold ! :D

Yeah I was going to post something similar. Shoey will be bigger next year and has shown signs he could be the guy we seem to be desperately trading for, or Roughy back...

Lake would be a good pickup but not for a ludicrous cost.

Hawthorn have a strong team with good depth and I dont understand why people think they need to get in a gun for it to be a successfull trade week.

I would be stoked if they got a few extra picks in what is supposed to be a good draft. Push for the next two years with the outstanding group we have and get some kids with talent to weave into the side preparing for the future.

Luke Delaney from North Melbourne would be a good cheap option as that big strong defender, still only 23. He is a much better option then that Brian Lake suggestion that some fellow posters have been mentioning. ;)

I reckon we get Dawes, I mean we need a KPD but we should use the Brazilian soccer team's philosophy of you score 4 goals we'll score 5. Imagine Buddy, Roughy, Hale, Gunston and Dawes in the same fwd line. Boy oh boy wow weee.

Or imagine if we could have the best key forward in the game as well as the best forward/pinch hit ruckman, as well as the two best forward pockets, a young up and coming third tall as well as the best foward utility in the league. We'd be laughing ;)

Frightening.

For our backline! Imagine the ball pinging out of the fwd 50 in record time. We'd score 5 but I'm tipping they'd score 6!

On the Fremantle board
"Fremantle have confirmed Jon Griffin is not up for trade, But Zac Clarke has requested a trade back to Victoria"
Interesting. I have a close contact to Clarke and I was lead to believe he wasnt considering coming home at all

I agree, I'm a big fan.
If I were Geelong I would be turning my attentions away from McIntosh and going hard for Clarke instead.
Problem is out of the teams who need a ruckman, we are probably in a bad position compared to say Geelong, St. Kilda in terms of draft picks. We would be stupid not to have a look though. Whoever out list manager is, have they done anything yet?

My god this talk of Zac Clarke is making me sick. DO NOT WANT!
Yes, he is athletic but he definitely isn't the answer for a ruck/forward role at all.
Dawes is an interesting one as he does have a strong body, his elite endurance is also something of note. Not sure how he would go playing down back though and what we would have to give up to get him probably wouldn't be worth it imo.

o_O

Yeh I have heard a couple of people saying that as well. Not sure how to get a read on it
Unless he has changed his mind in the last 2 hours, then according to his family hes not coming home

Imagine if they could kick a set shot between them :(

Im not sure if there is another thread to discuss other teams draft/trade situations so im sorry but here i go anyway.

The Jack Viney situation is interesting. If i were melbourne recruiting manager i would let GWS or GC take him with their first pick. Id tell todd to get in his sons ear and say walk out on them after your initial 2 yr deal is up and request a trade to melb otherwise i go in the draft. Melbourne will then offer GWS or GC a second round pick and they can take it or leave it.

No club would touch him knowing he will just walk out after his 2 year deal is done. If luke ball fell to pick 32-33 or thereabouts Melbourne wont make the 8 2013 or 2014 so he will only need 6-9 clubs to pass on him to get to Dees.

Just a thought but I wouldnt let these 2 pissant clubs who have been given the world any breaks and it would be a bit of karme for scully and the like.

You cant recruit now based on what might happen in the future. If the Dees want Viney they take him now. You cant afford to play mind games if you are a struggling club.
