Agree.

Maybe we should wait and see what West Coast ponies up for Mitchell (reigning Hawthorn B&F, midfield saviour and future coach). Would hate to see us pay more for Hill than they do for Mitchell. Especially as their kneed for Mitchell is greater than our need for Hill.

If the weages pay more than 51 for Mitchell they are crazy

They have recruited an assistant coach who will stretch his legs a few times next year

If we can get hamling kersten and hill done by Friday we have 4 days to work on pick improvement
I don't think we have our compensation pick yet. The AFL have just told us what we're getting when free agency is over. Compensation picks are meant to be a net loss on players through free agency
i.e. value of players lost - value of players gained.
Wouldn't really make sense if they gave them out now as we could just trade the pick away then take a free agents... Free agency ends on Sunday, so the Hill trade probably can't get done until Monday.

Crazy talk, Mitchell will give them 40 very solid games, Hill whilst I'm not a fan will potentially play 120-150 for us.

It'll be pick 51 or a few token pick swaps to improve Hawthorns position.

And we'll pay either 23 or 34 - if we get away with the latter then we have nailed this trade period.

Don't disagree with you.

It'll be interesting to see what they offer first though. Hill is only going to Freo if anywhere.

BTW, Mitchell 16 Brownlow votes in 2016 (220 career = most ever (if you adjust Gary Dempsey's total for the two seasons where they voted 54321)). Played 133 games since 2011.

If they accept pick 51, they'll need to be flexible with Hill's value.

I think you're right but the picks as advised by the AFL are still currency.
All trades including picks are recorded and finalised at end of trade week. It is the only arrangement they could have if they want to run FA period and trade week concurrently.
Under your scenario, a club who receives a FA COMP pick would not have any subsequent drafting of FA's accepted at AFL house.

Interesting. I d

Stops clubs from having their cake and eating it. Makes sense

They are but don't truly exist until 5pm Sunday and can't be traded until after that time. As 5pm is the end of the day the trade can be officially done Monday morning but can be agreed on before then.

How many list spots do we have to fill, assuming Clarke, Barlow and Ballas are retained?? 10? We have 7, 23, 35, 43, 61 as 'useful' picks in the draft yeh? So even if Gray and Deluca are relisted, we have 3 lists spots to fill right? I'm probably missing something (so please correct me), but where are those players coming from? Are we going to have to draft into rounds 5+?

Wouldn't mind shopping the Mayne pick to GC (would give them three picks in a row) for picks 30 (or even 26) and 44. It favours us to the equivalent of pick 58 (or pick 50 with 26) but they have a massive points surplus and 23 is far more likely to be a live pick for them than the other two.

30 for Hill, 44 for Hamling or Kersten.

B Hill = Pick 34
If they want Pick 23 I would do for Hill & Litherland who is OOC. Or just wait and get Litherland in PSD.
Why are we talking about Litherland other than he's from WA and OOC. There's a reason Hawks posters try to put him in every Hill trade. 24 years old and hasn't really shown all that much. He's just not overly great. Certainly nothing better than I'd expect us to be able to recruit (if required) and develop in 3-4 years.

All of the commentary I read prior to the trade valued B Hill at 25-35 with the consensus being that 28-30 was about the range. There are a number of ways to do that.
https://www.draftguru.com.au/pick-value-calculator#35,43,|Bradley Hill,54, - values B Hill at 28
I don't like that as it clean us out for a "trade sweet spot" for us. 23 is to good for both Hamling and Kersten and 54 is a bit cheap for Hamling

https://www.draftguru.com.au/pick-value-calculator#23,43,|Bradley Hill,36,, - values B Hill at 28 as well
Which I prefer. Though it means that we are trading 35 Hamling (fine) and either 36 or 61 for Kersten (I would be upset with 36 and I don't think Geelong would do 61)

https://www.draftguru.com.au/pick-value-calculator#23,43,61|Bradley Hill,36,54, - Is perhaps not what Hawthorn would wish rating B Hill at 31
I would really hope we went like this as it would 34 for Hamling, 54 for Kersten and us with a second round pick of 36. I'm probably dreaming.

I'd be happy to settle at Hill and their 4th for 23, squeeze every bit of value we can.

That might be the best we can do. Hill is contracted and 23 is what we are going to have to give and we have basically promised him that we will draft him, if we can get something back great.

Pav = Cam
Mayne = Kersten (#40)
Deboer = Hamling (#35)
Mzungu = B.Hill (#23)
Grey = 7
Clancee = 60
Hannath = 73
Tanner = 78

Are these all the senior list spots?

Dtill not sure on:
Silvagni - no contract.
Barlow - no contract.
Clarke - FA
Ballas? - trade bait.
Suban? - trade bait.

Something like that probably.

End of the day, he's worth the pick in one sense, however, the hand has been shown. He's coming here one way or another. Time is on our side really, we can wait and see if we can come up with something of some value, but not quite that high - if not, well then we make a call on #23 at the point it's necessary.

No point running to the trade just yet from what I can see.

About time Mr Kersten got his shit together for tomorrow

Oh my he does look a bit like Pav doesn't he
I think he looks like Dan from the slow mo guys
latest

Please send suban to GC for their pick 30 , will be happy to lose pick 23 to b.hill then .
