34 would probably be used in the Hamling trade if he decided to come our way. I would probably prefer to use a second/third round pick on kersten next year. I may even be over compencating for Kersten as we may be able to get him quite cheap given he is out of contract, a pick in the 60s may even get that deal done.

Yeh that's what I meant for that pick.

Every chance you're right about Kersten for a later pick to. Lets hope so.

I sooooooo want this to happen. Why can't we be the campaigners at the trade table for once? We've been reamed (on more than one occasion by the Hawks) and quite frankly, Hill is not a high needs target. 34 or GTFO. Do it Freo.

Out of all the trades B Hill is the most uninspiring for me, but I think a handshake was made way back that Hill = Mayne compo

With a bit of luck there were conditions in place i.e. Hill for Mayne compo pick if it fell outside of 1 - 23.

agreed with this. I think pick 23 is probably spot on for Hill but the fact that they need to push him out the door for salary cap space, not sure if they do anymore if they get rid of Sam Mitchell, and the fact that he has named us and his manager has stated that he basically isnt interested in joining the Eagles should also work in our favour. Ijust cant see how they are going to get the deal done to get Tom Mitchell to the Hawks now though.

Agree.

Maybe we should wait and see what West Coast ponies up for Mitchell (reigning Hawthorn B&F, midfield saviour and future coach). Would hate to see us pay more for Hill than they do for Mitchell. Especially as their kneed for Mitchell is greater than our need for Hill.

So much quality (and also fulfilling needs) in that 15-25 range, would be disappointing if we couldn't reenter around that mark.
