Colin Sylvia in Brown & Gold? Thoughts Hawk Supporters?
He's 28 and is lazy and soft.
Pass.
f*** no! There are only a small handful of Melbourne listed players that would get a game at Hawthorn. They are Jeromy Howe, Nathan Jones and James Frawley. That's about it.
27... lazy? How is he lazy if the ball ain't in his territory, & he's been averaging 19.9 disposals this year... He does not have the quality players around him...
28 in a couple of months, sorry.
Sylvia is, perhaps, one of the most talented players in the comp he just doesn't put in the hard yards to exploit his talent to the world. Just ask any Demon fan, I'm sure they will agree with me.
Why waste our time and energy on a 28 (sorry 27 yr and 10mth) old player when we need to be focusing on the younger generation ready to take over from Mitch, Taz, Sewelly and Hodgey?
We have them young players already... Hallahan, Anderson, Woodward... Hopefully Taylor Adams if we can snap a deal. Colin Sylvia is just the cherry on top for free... cause if he decided to come he would take a pay cut & it's different at Melbourne... Sylvia doesn't have to work hard to get a game in the seniors there... they don't have competition for spots like we do.
You've included two guys who haven't played a game and one in Woodward who it would be an amazing effort just to play 1 senior game let alone rely upon them as our future midfield. And Adams, I think every other Melbourne club is keen on him so you would have to say we are unlikely to get him.
We don't have 'them young players already' at all.
Sums up my thoughts aswell.Sylvia is the most pathetic type of footballer going round. The selfish, lazy yet talented type. He is one of the ones who start the season off poorly, then when their teams year is over and with only a few rounds left, they think 'shit id better start playing well or i wont get a new contract'. They start building and playing well in games that mean nothing and give the false impression that they have had a good year. We dont want players like that at Hawthorn.

Doubt he would take a paycut to come to Hawthorn either. I am sure he is quite content earning good money with no expectations at Melbourne...

Well that is obvious??We will wait & see, cause you're obvs no Colin Sylvia
So whose place in the side would he take if we traded for him and why would Clarko choose him, a synonymously inconsistent and lazy footballer, over a player whose playing in a successful side, has worked their ass off to get in the side and, most importantly, deserves their place in the side?We will wait & see, cause you're obvs no Colin Sylvia
So he would do that at Hawthorn? pfft...

Trade, free agent signing, whatever. You haven't answered my question, but to add another, why would we go get him if he's got a reputation as being one of the laziest footballers in the game and then not be allowed to be lazy or he's out of the side? Would be a big price to pay if the high risk doesn't pay off.Huh why trade? It's really up to him if he wants to be in our best 22 then he won't be allowed to be lazy, he would have to work for his spot... Clarko wouldn't allow him to be the same how he is at Melbourne.

Would we have a need for jack watts ?
This is lovely and all that and your paragraph usage and '...' usage are second to none, but you still haven't answered my question, who would he replace in the side and why would Clarko choose Sylvia over an already established player who has earned their spot in a perennial top 4 side? Is Sylvia that much better than who he would replace that the risk of his 'bad' side appearing be worth playing him for?Obviously Hawthorn & Sylvia would have to come to terms with each other... it would be either Sylvia takes a huge paycut to what he would be worth at our club or forget about it. It would be a more him wanting to come than an us chasing him. Far out... Colin Sylvia has been at Melbourne all his career so far, what he hasn't had is a proper pre-season, proper coaching.... etc... it's Melbourne's staff who I believe has made him lazy & the quality of players around him & them losing all the time doesn't help motivate players... I think competitions for spots would help him get to his full potential, about two years ago everyone was saying he will someday take the league by storm, he will not do that by staying at Melbourne. He needs the challenge of what a Premiership contender team has. It's not a high risk... if he doesn't perform he can go to BH... we can win without him, just saying if we added him it could just make us more dynamic & dangerous... he could be the Ryan O'Keefe we once looked for.
If Sylvia was willing to work hard to get into and stay in a good team rather than just lazily get by on natural talent at a poor club then he'd have made the move already. But I'm sure the prospect of that sounds much better to him now a large pay cut is an option! Don't know how he could refuse!
