I have only seen him the once and was not overly impressed. Currie would not be much of an upgrade on our current crop.
I watched him in the pre-season, he was absolutely flying. He was very impressive against seasoned AFL ruckmen.
Kangaroo's supporters are foaming at the mouth for him to get a game......Scott has his preference to thrash his ruckman at the expense of a runner.
Has played 11 games so far in the VFL with 6 times in the bests. and avgs around 27 HO.
Compared to Lowden 2 times in the bests and avgs around 21 HO

I still think Shiels can become a great player in the clearances very similar to Sewell, when he is given a chance without having to tag he is impressive at the hard ball plus he has pace. A Coach in the offseason needs to help him with his kicking big time.
In regards to KPP's i would love to get Lachlan Keefe from Pies, i think Shoey can become a great CHB as he has shown at times but has never seemed great on the last line of defense this is where Keefe looks his most natural. Shoey and Keefe can form a great partnership in the backline for almost 10 years. While Ben Reid looks decent as a FWD leaving Brown and Keefe as your only KPD's seems stupid to me therefore Keefe may miss out on some games due to Brown & Reid being ahead of him so hopefully he becomes frustrated because of that.

Do you think a fit Aaron Davey could make a difference for us in his twilight years? Couldn't see him ever leaving the Demons, but if they are about to kick him out, and Hawthorn came knocking, would he fit into our best 22 or be remotely close?

Last year when we pumped the Dees on the Friday night Derm on SEN said Davey would be a good fit for Hawks, to the amusement of Huddo and co.
I was a fan of his, but I think he's past it now
Its sometimes hard to imagine how guys at crap clubs would go at better clubs, as you can only picture how they are performing now rather than how they would go in a good environment.
I remember many laughing at Collingwood taking Leigh Brown, who turned in to a very good player at the Pies. Sometimes a change of position or role can change a career as well like Brent Guerra moving to defence at Hawthorn.
Davey at Melbourne is one of the only players with some natural talent and experience, so he is expected to do way too much given the type of player he is. If he were at a side like Hawthorn where he is just the icing and has players feeding the ball, you start to see his real value of pace and skills and filling a role rather than trying to do everything at a rabble. I'm sure many would laugh at the Davey suggestion, but I reckon he'd thrive in a Hawthorn or Geelong type environment with less responsibility.
With the ball, yes. Without, no. Have to work your butt off defensively at HFC to get a game which Davey does not do.

Correct and it's funny he built his first part of his career on his defensive efforts. Soon as he became a good player for them and used off half-back he became unaccountable and now never chases or harasses which is sad seeming his great start to his AFL career.

I recall a lot of talk about us using our first pick on him 2010. He's been getting games lately, I assume this is only due to injuries though.

We need to be careful on how many more recycled players we go for.....Burogyne, Guerra, Hale, Gunston, Gibson, Lake all played yesterday.
At some stage we will need to start finding some quality youngsters of our own. Jed Anderson hopefully will be a good pick up.
Kelly, Litherland, Hallahan, Lowden, Frank, Wanganeen all seem to have been around for a while now without getting a game.

Will we delist a current ruckman or add Longer to the list?
Can't see us adding a ruckman without losing one
Lowden seems to be struggling, surpassed by Ceglar who had to be upgraded from the rookie list
Also can't see us having a ruckman on the rookie list if Longer is added

Im not sure whats going on with Jared Polec up at Brisbane, but before the draft he was really highly rated and now cant seem to get a game at brisbane. He may be cheap which is a plus because he is a talent
