Hell no. TO'B is a keeper.
TO'B hasn't played a game yet thus making him a spud. Trade him. We don't need him. Only 4 rucks and 2 part-time rucks is not enough so we need to get rid of our only developing key forward depth. You know it makes sense.

Lions would want more trust me. The kids going to be a 10 yr first Ruck. He's already impressive as a 20 yr old, still learning.

Yeah they'd want more, but even though they aren't free agents the value clubs get for guys out of contract decrease due to the risk of losing players for nothing. Gunston was probably worth a mid first round pick really, at least, and we used a mid second rounder in the end cause he was out of contract and only chose Hawthorn (and the AFL blocked a trade that would have seen Crows get more admittedly). We got a pretty big bargain to pick up a certain quality player with that pick.

If a guy nominates your club, says wont go anywhere else, and speaks of going PSD or nothing then the host club loses bargaining power, and it becomes a bit of a game of chicken. There are a few cases of Clubs playing hard ball, but that is normally very strong clubs that can afford not to take the pick because they don't want to make their opponents stronger without paying for it.

With a compromised draft sides outside the 8 can't afford to risk losing a player, as well as not taking a first round pick and half decent young player for nothing. Also recently if clubs have played hard ball, and forced a player into the PSD, other clubs seem less likely to want to pick up players that don't want to be at your club. Luke Ball for example no one touched after saying only wanting to go to Collingwood, where maybe 10 years ago other clubs would have taken him regardless of his intentions to wanting to go to Collingwood.

If players don't mind where they go as much, or are within contract, the host club can be much more aggressive.

Suckling is a good kick, actually a brilliant kick..... the kicking efficiency has more to do with him taking more risks, he creates the play by foot, sometimes it comes off sometimes it doesn't, it comes off more often than not though and when it does it completely opens up the play....he's a very unique player.

Suckling is really only a liability when he is isolated in our defensive zone in a marking situation. Before his injury i was under the impression that he was being moved further up the ground into the midfield to free him up, He's exactly the type of player that the ball should be in his hands with the last kick entering our forward 50.
I think he looks better in a H&A game against a team which we are travelling well at, than against a team in the finals with maniac pressure and intensity. Having said that many of our so called stars seem to go missing in the past, really hope this year is different. Names like Hodge,Lewis,Roughead,Rioli,Bruest.
My point to Buddy Marvellous was if someone is willing to pay overs for Suckling then we could think about it. I mentioned both brown and black are retiring or near retirement so we do have someone like Hale or someone like hallahan / sewell type too many that we can offload if we were going to get a good athletic ruckman.

Also, I think before Birchall got injured he was doing similar to suckling, kicking a few long goals from beyond 50. It is all well doing it against teams who offer little resistance but in finals always more tough. I remember time when Suckling tried to it against collingwood a few years back and got knocked off easily. That is why chapman, bartel players have been great, in finals they stand up, have mental edge, take crucial marks, kich clutch goals.

There are number of players on our list who are tradeable, depends whether someone wants to pay overs or not. If someone wanted to offer O'Meara for both hallahan/sewell or Rioli for dangerfield type or a good young ruckman in the likes of Longer/Nicholls for a Hale (because they just don't have any focal point at front) and our young ruckman/KPP like Lowden/Grimley then you can think about it. Only examples, but just trying to make the point.

Good players don't come cheaply. Would anyone trade O'Brien for Longer?
Do you rate O'Brien higher or Gunston? The guys you like to trade 2 of the 3 of Hale/Grimley/Lowden if you are going to get a very good ruckman and just keep a VFL grader as backup (only problem is they don't have too much currency). I understand your point, we have abundance of tall forwards and O'Brien is not likely see too much action in seniors, especially if Buddy stays as well. If that is where you are coming from you can ague we probably have one too many slowish inside midfielders that we can offload and they may want to try somewhere else to get more opportunites.

There is a little bit of commentary regarding Yarran and the HFC.
He is 23 in December and would really bring something to our side imo.
He's had a terrible year so his currency is down. If he wants to play midfield and he prepared to be dedicated to achieving this then i would be all for it.

Sorry but Yarran only runs one way and that is forward. His pressure is poor and could imagine that if he ever played finals would be a spectator. Can't see the point in trading for him, may as well wait for Tambling to be delisted by crows and get him for free. Honestly wouldn't have either of them.
You trade for what is wanted not what is available.

Player swaps?
Honestly I wouldn't have a clue as to what type of player they'd want want. Wouldn't want to give up anyone U/25 who's in our best 22 and I can't imagine they're looking to top on on older blokes as their list is similar to ours in age structure I think. Not saying any of these players Carlton would be intereted in but players I would be willing to trade this year would be Ellis, Sewell, Cheney, Shiels, Spangher, Ceglar, Guerra
Tbh I wouldn't be against putting Lewis' name out there has he has underperformed massively this year in a similar vein to Sewell. However has he is VC and seems loyal/happy I don't think he will leave. Although if he offered him to say Melbourne I reckon we could easily pick up a top 5-10 pick
What Rot. Lewis has almost identical stats to last year. Stats don't say it all but given he has done a lot of defensive jobs (again) this year comparing his out put to Sewell who is 25-50% down in raw numbers from last year (depending on which stat you look at) it really is a poor comparison. Lewis is our number 1 tagger player at the club and despite this still averages more disposals than Sewell who runs around without an opponent most weeks.

Brian can play a few more years, Schoe and Sucko come back, Gibbo is solid. Litherland is an outside chance of developing. Stratton may be used as bait. He has a heap of currency plus we have some depth to cover him.

I'm kinda surprised that no-one has brought up Kane Lucas.
Seems to have fallen out of favour with Carlton fans, 22 years old, #12 pick, surely there's something there.
If not, long shot but Mitchell Grigg from Adelaide. Very very unlikely seeing as he is a SA boy and playing in SA but left footer, young midfielder, heaps of composure (check out the Showdown game) and young (I think 19 or 20).

Pretty sure Grigg has just signed 2 year deal with crows.

As I posted a while back very confident Longer will end up at either Hawthorn or Richmond. Fingers crossed it's the hawks as he will be a beauty.

If bud leaves we get some free swings at free agents. If he stays we need to clear some cap space and Ellis, Guerra ossie and Max clears about 800k a year.

Suckling Schoenmakers and Woodward are new recruits next year which is exciting.

Jed Anderson has pace and grunt. Find another Jed and I will be happy.
Richmond are struggling to re-sign Rhyse Conca and Dustin Martin
Their salary cap is full, so unless they lose one of the above, it may be hard for them to attract Longer to tiger land

That's some seriously inept Salary cap management, Its there first finals series and they already struggling to fit everyone in.

Yep
From what I can tell they have Martin locked in, but if he agrees to the offer a smaller offer with restrictions has to be offered to Conca
Unless of course they trade/delist more than they were planning to
So it could be very hard for them to attract others
They are out of the race for Adams from GWS according to Herald Sun
