Reid was number 1, Walter was number 2. FOS was next with McKercher.

The only rule in drafting is get the best player for your club's future. It would take balls if he doesn't perform, you're right. Let's see how he goes.
on a pure "potential" level Josh Smillie is the most athletic Cripps-like player to appear in a draft since Tom Green.

We chose Ben Lennon over Cripps because of the same reasons Josh is falling down the rankings.

My biggest worry is that this draft and next we HAVE to get a franchise player that can sell memberships and get bums on seats. WCE are TRASHHHHH but the Harley effect gets them through the door.

Smilie is nothing like Cripps or Tom Green. The only thing they have in common is their height.

The closest thing to Cripps in this draft is likely Jack Ough. Who if the last two games are anything to go off will be rising in the lead up to the draft.

Jack Ough going to be a jet 😍

He sprays it a lot though
homer simpson lol GIF

I need to go back and pay more attention to his work in the champs but what I've seen of him since being put on the nut, he would be in my top 10 for players with the highest upside/ceiling. Late birthday too.
Played wing in the Champs.

I had him going top 20 being that tall athletic winger that gets up and back. If he's a 194cm inside mid, I'm not sure how high he could go.

Who does Smilie play like from the current AFL players?

Pick 7 -> Richmond
Pick 13 (Freo) & 20 (GC) -> Port
Houston -> Dees

Could leave us with 1, 6(GC), 7(Dees), 8(Freo), 16(Freo), 17(Bris), 21, 22(Graham).
they can keep pick 6

What is a franchise player that puts bums on seats??

I thought we were here to win premierships?
It has been a while since Ablett Snr played, Harley Reid only arrived here last year in the AFL and Dusty was great especially in finals.

I would not go to watch Ablett Jnr specifically. I would not go to watch Patrick Cripps play either specifically, nor Neale etc..

Im not a fan of equalisation

should be like the epl

we are a rich club for no reason, you cant benefit from being rich in the cfl anymore

That's OK they'll realise they need us while we are on the bottom

Carey and Buddy are the two obvious choices.

I think with Dusty retiring (Thanks for the memories!!) and potentially Shai, we need to get Lalor and Hotton. We'll be losing 2 game winners and need to replace them. It will be hard for them to reach the same heights (Lalor has no chance of matching Dusty and thats not a knock on him), but we're losing 2 x factor forwards. Our small forwards have done well this year, I've been impressed, but I don't see them as 'match winners'.
I think Armstrong with a year or 2 being taught by Lynch is a good move too.

Agreed we need the 2 best mid/fwds in this draft as a minimum which at this stage should be those two guys.

However I trust Richmond and I will be happy when they pick 2 175cm HB flankers and chuck them as inside mids.
