If Longer was a chance to walk to the Hawks for free, or we had the chance to snare him in exchange for Vick, would you do it?
Personally i would, i think in the next 2 years, McBean will be a better player than Vick, and he has some good trade value at the moment. We need a back up ruckman and Longer would provide that, and can play in the Vick role anyway.

How does longer walk to the Hawks for free? If that were to happen he would have to go PSD or ND and wouldn't make it to Hawthorn in either unless they were going to pay excessively for him.

As for trading Vickery.... Please find me 5 players who ruck and play KPF in the AFL who are better. He is a one of a kind type who improves every year. His ruck work is probably his weakness but he his better than most other ruckman up forward.

Agreed.

Can anyone give me a summary of Viv Michie? He worth a look in? When and what pick was he drafted?

Well I agree with the author, neither will become CHF maybe third talls at either end of the ground.

They actually could seeings that was the position Elton and Griffths were playing when they got drafted and griffths was playing there the last three or four games for coburg.

The problem is neither is played there, so the author isn't really wrong

The Author isn't totally wrong cause the tiges want astbury to be the third tall down back not to fill the CHF spot but saying "They are all key position talls that don’t fill the CHF need" is totally incorrect because they are CHF forward's that could fill that need if necessary, as they were drafted when playing that role in Tac Cup and Under 18's Chaimpionships. Also the last three to four rounds in the vfl, Griffths played CHF for coburg so they obviously see him able to play that role if needed to.

I'd almost lean toward Vickery being a better ruck than forward docko911 . I think I said it in another thread that at times I've thought Vickery plays with more confidence and takes the game on if he can be involved in the play more often and that enables him to use his strengths more, of speed, quick hands and work below his knees. Overall though I think if he can get a full preseason in and remain reasonably injury free 2014 will tell us a bit about him..... for the record I'm a big fan, if he gets genuine self belief he could be real weapon.

P.s A bit off thread topic, sorry mods & all others

I was wondering the same thing, do we get anything for these two?

This is how compensation works so i would expect a second round or end of second round. AS we have lost two 26 year old's and white was offered a wealthy 3 year deal and i'd expect McGuane to get a 2 or 3 year deal so the total points for each loss should add up to a second round or end of second round i would suspect.

COMPENSATION

A club that has a net loss of players transferring to/from other clubs as free agents in one transfer period is entitled to compensation via National Draft picks allocated by the AFL.

The compensation formula produces a points rating for players based on:

1. The new contract of the free agent;
2. The age of the free agent.

Draft picks are allocated to clubs based on the net total points for free agents lost and gained during the transfer period.

Draft picks will be allocated to one of five places:

• 1st round
• end of 1st round
• 2nd round
• end of 2nd round
• 3rd round

In applying the formula, an expert committee reviews the formula outcomes. The committee has the power to recommend alternative outcomes to GM – Football Operations where the formula produces a materially anomalous result.

Will we get any compo for McGuane and White?

General consensus this afternoon has been White should garner a 2nd rd pick - could be after our pick or end of second round. Unlikely to get anything for McGuane. Both results are heavily dependent on the contracts that they are offered.

I agree that he definitely plays better when he is around the ball because he moves like a midfielder through traffic almost in slow motion. If he can become a better ruck in terms of hitouts than that my be his better position. I think he has done more up forward but he offers a lot in both positions which is what makes him so potentially dangerous.

Agreed.

Pick 44 in the 2010 draft.
185cm / 85kg
No games in 2011 & 2012 due to serious foot injury.
1 game this year.

Foot injury concerns me.

Not sure how far our salary cap would stretch ... and the GWS boys are 2 year players with little experience of success and lots of opportunities to be near the ball in play ... I wonder how we can really put a value on them ... i suspect we overvalue them just because GWS supposedly got all the best players.

Chappy because being over 30 only half his salary is in the cap .. might too be an argument to consider Montagna if only because half his salary could be outside the cap ... prefer Chappy because he has the X factor and not sure we want 2 30 plus recruits ... only consider both if we really believe we can be premiers in the next 2 years ...

I like Hampson ... he is just at the age for a big man where he should blossom and is a Ruckman/Forward rather then a Forward/Ruckman.

Pity my balls are not crystal or i could rub them and tell you which ones we should take ... they give me no insight unless itching is a good omen

On Michie I went too the Freo board and a poster suggested

Michie + pick 18 for pick 12? Win/win for both teams.

You may consider seeing a doctor if they itch too much.

2 things wrong with these comments:

-You can only put players on the veterans list if they've played 10 years at your club.
-The changed the veterans list a few years ago so that only 100k can be payed outside the cap. It's not half anymore.

Compiled by a pair of brothers from the 'Yellow and Black' forum here's OWAAT's look at Richmond's off season.

Age of list, strengths, weaknesses, trade bait, untouchables and suggested moves.

Enjoy!
Says we have a surplus of Talls yet it says "Get Mitch Thorp" Seriously? Elton and Griffiths would be good enough or Edwards. All would be better then Thorp.

I'd say no. Pick 40 odd who can't get in the park due to injury? 3rd rounder, maybe end of second if we got that as chimp for White, but I'm warming to Garlett if we get a pick around that mark.

I'd be laughing all the way to ChinaTown if we somehow managed to swap Matty White for Shane Savage (using White's pick to get Savage) would be bloody brilliant

I would be spewing chips if we used a selection any better than #70 for savage tbh
If White's compo is a 2nd rounder which i doubt will be more like a 3rd if we are lucky.

Dayle Garlett should be the player we are looking to get & I personally believe he will get taken around 25-40,If we could somehow upgrade our 3rd to a mid-late 2nd rounder -BINGO

Shane Savage would be a great speed replacement for Matt White..A even better replacement would be Gary Rohan we should check his contract status & offer him a long term deal now that Buddy & Kurt have taken all the Swans cash.I am sure Blair is all over both of them.:thumbsu:
Struggling after snapped leg, no I'm sorry

I do agree about Dayle Garlett definitely. I really think he fills a need and could be elite and picks 25-40 are okay. Wouldn't be spewing too much, I'm totally against using any first round pick on a risky player.

Savage is worth more than pick 70, but I do agree hasn't been the same since his injury.
