I don't think the Blues are gonna do much this week.

We should try to get anything we can to move McLean (he'll be worth even less after another slow year in the 2s), and if someone comes knocking for Setant or others we'd entertain it for a pick upgrade or something.

The only other way I can see us doing much is if one of our players forces our hand. Eg. If (NOT a rumour, just a hypothetical) a Bower or Russell or Lucas demanded to move because they were a bit out of favour/struggled with fitness.

We've invested big in Mitchell, Watson, McCarthy... so paying overs to get someone else's investment (Lisle, for example) seems like a waste of time. Unless we honestly and objectively reckon we've back the wrong ponies. Would be great for one of those three to force their way into the seniors this year.

Now if Travis Cloke decided he was SICK of playing in Grand Finals for Collingwood and desperately wanted to move... then we'd do something drastic.

I think with the rumours of Koby Stevens wanting to go back to vic for more opportunities, might make us a little more active. Think we would be very keen to add him to our list, as that in and under we really need.

What are the odds of getting Goddard if we have to deal with Pelchen?

"We're interested in trading Goddard for Kreuzer and Yarran"

Wouldn't be surprised if the only moves that we made were upgrading of our draft picks, say Brock McLean + #62 for #49 (GWS). If we can do that with a couple of teams, perhaps even upgrade our first round pick if Bower is to be traded, then we wont have to make any or many harsh calls on delisting.

A lot of talk, of course, but the price seems to be way too steep. May be better off trying to save what cap room we do have for next year when we hopefully have a healthy team and know exactly what piece we need to go out and get in free agency. Give Hampson a year as a KPF, let's see what Kreuzer can do if he can get his body completely right. Lets see how a forward line that features Waite, Hampson, Walker, Garlett, Betts and Kreuzer (at times) can do. Let's see if Kane Lucas can crack the 22 on a permanent basis and if someone steps up to take over from Scotland when he decides to call it quits.

Even getting Brian Lake for next to nothing comes with a huge cost and a whole lot of risk.

Never heard of the guy, any info on him?

EDIT: have just looked him up and says he is a 20y.o. defender at 191cm. How does he play? i.e. rebounding defender, solid in one-on-ones, etc?

If youve ever seen anyone do the running man dance, thats how quick he is. Has a good footy brain, but to be honest seems out of his depth at the moment. Could be a late bloomer? Hope this helps.

I do hope that we find new homes for O'hAilpin and Mclean.
Not because I care to see the back of them, but to give them every chance to play regular AFL football.

The closer it gets to next week the edgier I get about Bower, but fair to say that if we have locked Hendo to a back spot, that his tenure with us may be getting to an end.

No word has come to me on Austin yet, either.
Would be very lucky to hold on, but you never know if we've already got trades in the waiting for a few others.

Please no more pictures of Emu's.
I don't think I can take it. :(

Why do people want to get rid of Setanta? The only pack splitting forward we have. It's not like we would get much for him. Let's not sell off the few tall forwards we have. Crazy.
