Even if he never plays for us he'll bring a work ethic, professionalism and knowledge that we don't currently have.

I'm more excited at his coaching than his playing ability.

Hopefully I can go over and help West Coast if that's what happens ... I'd be really excited by something new and a new prospect and I'd feel like I've done the right thing by Hawthorn. At the moment I can't really mentally commit to either. For the last two weeks I've had one foot in either camp and it's been a bit awkward. I can't really jump into either camp at the moment.

This is the most strategic move I have head of. We lack midfield class and coaching. Leadership is lacking.

Fill all three needs with one subtle move. Suspect we could back end the payment with a solid coaching offer post playing.
I have been looking at Mitchell thinking he will make an excellent coach - pity we could not have him he just build on the Hawks strength. All the time the club is ahead of me.

We could have tow Brownlow winners in our midfield next season.
