I think it's a reference to the B Crouch situation, when it was reported / rumoured that we were trying to do a salary dump trade from St Kilda (one player? 2 players? I don't recall) so the Saints could afford to make a bigger offer to Brad => better compo pick for us, and the AFL vetoed the deal.

I'd love GC to now come out and say that 7 is not on the table. Geelong have wooed the player and now need to get the deal done.
tbh I thought the Crows-Saints deal was dodgy and the AFL was right to veto it. But of course now, with the Bowes / pick 7 deal
It's one thing to allow the Suns to buy their way out of a mess of their own making; but on top of that allowing another club to effectively buy a draft pick.... The fact that it's the reigning premiers is just the cream on the cake.

replacement for Rankine, they've got pick 7 and Bowes $$$'s out the door so maybe now they can move onto the Rankine deal

If he'd gone to Hawthorn or Essendon he would be best 22 without a doubt, going to Geelong doesn't even come with guaranteed playing time. He's a bloody idiot, unless he just wants the cash and to swan about in the reserves not even try
