Up here in Not Syria, I went to buy a slab of Cape Grim porterhouse yesterday, asking the butcher to cut in approximately 2cm thick slices for a quick sizzle on the BBQ!

He looked at me confused and asked, "What's your definition of 2cms?"

"Ah, usually 20mm as determined by the metric system." I could still sense his confusion.... "Just go with the width of your thumb, that'll be great!"

The world is f**kd!

Nah, he was probably just confused why anyone would want such a thin steak! But I do hear ya, "number of fingers width" is how I communicate with the Vietnamese guy at my local wholesale butcher.

31. Josh Goater

A big third season coming up. Alternated between wing and HB but played better on the wing. His kicking alternated within games from clangers to rippers and will only improve as he gets fitter after another pre-season. We have an over abundance of running types of a similar size and experience so he needs to make every post a winner. I don’t reckon he starts in Rd 1 as a I reckon Fisher/Dyl has his spot.

Love the write ups.

One thing we don’t have is an over abundance of athletic freaks which he is.

Massive point of difference that he can use to nail a spot down.

Enjoying the write ups mate!

Going off all the training reports, I reckon the club see him as a 22 player, ALOT of the set attacking plays from half back start with the ball in Goater’s hands.

Would absolutely love to see him have a genuine break out year across half back. His ceiling is still so high.

Agree and he’s has a point of difference to the Bergman’s, McKercher, Stephens, Fisher - @ 190cm,87kg , he’s much bigger.

Miller is classy in his own way and the coaches like what he brings too but Goater with his wing, mid ability is pretty handy.

Fingers crossed he can really step up with Logue out to provide some height down there.

I agree 100% on the steak thickness. Sadly, I had to go thinner with more mouths to feed than $$$ available for meat...

32. Toby Pink.

We recruited him as a mature aged player for one reason, to play on the gorillas. We do not have another player that can play this role. He won’t be judged on intercept marks or possessions, only on his ability to at least half contests and bring the ball to ground against the big key forwards. For this reason I reckon he’ll play in Rd 1.

33. The other George

His draft profile highlights a fast lead, a thumping kick and innate goal sense. Despite BF rumours I see him as a medium, leading forward in our setup. Given he is coming off a knee reco and a serious elbow injury I don’t see him playing round 1 but it shouldn’t take him long to debut. Expectations shouldn’t be too high. 15 games, a few goals and a rising star nomination are realistic aims.

Hasnt played for 18 months and coming off both upper and lower body injuries.

More likely to play 15 games in 2025. Can debut this year but unlikely to happen until the second half of the season.

Whenever it’s off season, a break in training or sometimes just for some recovery sessions I often come across Darcy Tucker at the gym, we train and hit the infrared saunas at the same time usually, he was there this morning and he was looking extremely fit. He mainly did weights and core exercises from what I could tell. Really nice bloke, always says hello, chats about our training and goes out of his way to say goodbye when he leaves. Mentioned to him how fit he was looking and he was just really humble about it.

Your too humble Sugar Turner

But your time is up, move on from the Gym to the next phase in your life

I really hope he gets the chance to show something in 2024. I don’t recall him being re-signed yet.

As for the other George I pray that he can get over his hammy issues.
