As long as he’s not getting himself into trouble it’s probably not the worst thing in the world for the group to have a bloke that knows how to have a big of fun.
yeah just dont bring us into the media more than we usually are, and there will be no issues. We dont care what else they do outside the club as long as it doesnt affect us

More players than not in the system have loads of fun end of season. Perfectly normal behaviour. They're not robots.
As long as they put in the work during the season it's OK.

For a refreshing change, our club has been low profile media wise this preseason.
About the biggest story until today has been Pendles leaving the track early with an apparent injury, which turned out to be just a corkie.

happened to be passing vic park per chance and stopped to watch a bit

a few impressions:

- for those who say Frampton is unproven and may not be a certain starter, I can say he is definitely our full back this year. He's a head taller than murphy and howe, they aren't even in the same category. They would be lucky to match his reach even when they jump and he is on the ground. He can play football, so realistically there is no one else on our list who is going to play that role.

- De Goey is impossible to tackle. In the fend-off drill adams couldnt get his arms around him. Its one thing to be a great honest player like adams, but in competitive sport its another thing to have elite traits that allow you to be better than anyone else. At the end of the day, you win premierships when you have some unstoppable players like this perform when it matters.

- Mcstay is clunking everything and makes the space move around him like a a proper big man. We did very well to get him, will be a structural piece of our game. I dont know what brisbane were using him for, but he will have a high impact on our team

- WE have a lot of depth. So many guys that could come up and play a role at AFL standard.

That's good to hear about De Goey. He's looking leaner, but good to know he's still got that brute strength.

Any of the younger players catch your eye?

- Ryan missed a few of his kicks, but nevertheless looks a likely type. He seems to have a low centre of gravity but very wide in the shoulders.

- I though Ed Allen would be very raw, but he looks like he could play tomorrow if he had to, particularly as he would play an outside role on the wing. Kicks very well, covers the ground very well, and just looks smooth.

- Aiden Begg looks like he'd make a good KPD to me.

- Nick Daicos looks a lot stronger in his body than last year.

- In the handball through traffic drill, I saw IQ start the chain of handballs a few times by charging into the maelstrom and drawing the tackler and timing the handball. It seems if he will do that more in games this year it would be attacking and damaging

Allan, Draper and Reef all performed very strongly.
Draper spent most time up at the centre bounce, a little half back when they rotated players.

Nick 100% midfield.
Beggy, you can tell the difference between now and last year. So much stronger.

I was heading to Vic Park for a run and was surprised to see the intra-club in full swing… a couple notes from the 15 minutes I watched:

McStay is bigger and stronger than anyone around him, made Mihocek look second rate in just their different attack on the ball. Mcstay absolutely bullied Murphy (I think it was Murph), creating space at the drop of the ball fairly bumping him over. Will be so good for us…Haven’t had a proper big man like that since Cloke.

Ryan got it a couple times coming out of the back line but was wayward in his kicks, looks a little off the pack but heaps to work with. Speaking of draftees, Allan is much bigger than expected huge broad shoulders, could fill out to be a beast.

Billy and Ginny look sharp, Ginny definitely bigger and stronger. Has clearly been busy this off season.

Over to Jen for a proper run down haha

That's good to hear. How realistic is it to keep him as a stay at home forward and have Cameron as the 2nd ruck with Cox acting as 1st ruck and resting/rotating forward?

Is that realistic or does it leave us too top heavy or tall given there's still Mihochek and Johnson forward?

Yep, similar thoughts. Caught the match sim and the first thing that has been affirmed for me is… get ready for the Nick and jordy show this year. Nick was silk, slotted a nice long range goal, JDG is just pure brute force. Still a loose cannon and looks like he could blow at any stage, but he’s invested and all impact. Nick made me laugh.. was told to have a rest and directed a winded Murley to go off instead.

The other combinations to look for are McStay and Brodie. Big Mac played v well and dominated his opponents, whilst Brodie created and got on the end of a few goals in 2 quarters. Impressive. A minor indictment on our recruiting and list managers of the past ten years that we’ve finally got a nice tall attacking combination. Just a head shaker that it’s come from a VFL backman, and a free agent trade. Stay fit and they will cause headaches this year.

Down back and the Billy / Darcy combo should also bear some tasty, ripened fruit. Darcy still on sidelines building his agility, movement and tank, though still seems a bit off. I don’t expect any practice match action at all. Billy not perfect, but imposing and solid.

Arlo was also good in the middle. Looks to have earned the right, with Carmy a shock omission on the sidelines. In the stands with Krueger and Dean, so here’s hoping it isn’t much.

Mitchell was racking up some touches, reminding that his work around the ground and experience to be in the right position in link up play is another major string to his bow. Most have focussed on his centre work to date, and how that will benefit the pies midfield.

Lipinski was also solid, again showing a cool and experienced head.

Howe was good down back, looking like he hasn’t lost much.

Maynard had a shocker, two shitty kicks to turnover, then a 50m penalty to gift a goal, to……

The smoky. Tom Wilson I thought was good, with v nice disposal, and the ability to get forward and score. 2 goals by my calcs. Adds flexibility, needs to be a bit more physical / intense, and he could land a few games.

Josh D also good, as you’d expect. If everyone could kick under pressure like him, we’d be a shoe-in. Facing 3 options from the wing with defenders approaching, he was able to split the defenders with a 45m pass, straight to McCreery - I think - who goaled.

McCreery - also good… big bodied running forward who can kick a goal from long range, and find space with his pace. Like. Not to mention his defensive pressure. Best 22 for me, and scope for more upside as still partially on the mend.

Hill - did his bit, got free then marked with incoming pressure, to hand Brodie an easy goal. Ginni with the assist to Hill, after again getting free and delivering beautifully. Dangerous.

Allen - did well, got involved, but imo is still lacking that extra split second re decision making or quickness to dispose etc, which is always the case with first year players imo. Eg caught while running into goal, causing a shank. Better for the run and has all the tools, just not fully ready yet.

Rucks - an area of concern, with Darcy C running sideline drills. Cox not imposing, with Begg actually standing out a bit more. Still lumbering for me and v much a VFL player at this stage, so we are v reliant on Darcy. Oscar hardly sighted and coughed it up on wing, with clear options, so he is v much a work in progress for me.

Just on Mitchells linking, was he just getting a stat or was his linking part of attacking chains?
