This was the midfield set up during the 20 mins of match sim today.

Mitchell. Nick. Pendles (+ Cox)
v
Draper. Lippa. Crisp (+ Steene) Then when Lippa goes forward, Adams starts in the middle.
I have a feeling Draper is playing AFL round one, if not early on in the season. He's come back in really good shape.

Interesting. Players did say today he'd been back late (latest Instagram reel).

Potentially why we chose Steene in the first place.
Yeah. He was back late because of his brother's wedding. I didn't realise he still had an issue with his knee.

He made it a focus in the off-season, to get fit, and strong.

Not sure this is the correct place for this link.
It's a great article.
Personally as a bloke I agree about the age/maturity point. It's nothing revelatory... but pretty true for that age group for any gender in my day and now with kids in that age bracket..
The Grundy bit was a touch overblown in my book but fair play for the explanation.

Adams fit, Mitchell inclusion, Nick Daicos looking for more midfield time and Carmichael looking fitter he has alot of competition ahead of him so far.

There are probably 12 players that rotate through the middle in any given game. Key to his inclusion is whether he can play another position at this stage. Injuries will hit, form will waver..if he has done the work, he will play.

Round 1, I’m not sure as I haven’t seen his preseason. I’d say a bit above half the 22 are locks the other positions are up for grabs.

Love the reports and videos Jen.
I think it is really nice that you're getting some recognition from members of the staff at Collingwood too, who understand the dedication and access that you provide for other die hards.
Soon enough you'll be granted access to the cafe with the other insiders!

Appreciate the structure amendment to simply listing the absent players, too.

I still think we have to work on when you wear sunscreen and when you need to bring a rain-proof jacket though. ;)
It was definitely cold sitting around yesterday morning with wet clothing!

Hope to see you Friday, perhaps with my son in tow.

Can almost guarantee Draper won't play R1.
I'll say that he does (don't know who for). It will be my bold prediction to start the year and it could happen.

I agree with all those players but Draper can at HB - he could even be slotted in at HF or be our tactical sub.

The disrespect in this comment for the selfless reporters who give us so much without reward is breathtaking. Appreciate the talent of Annabelle, who goes to some trouble to give us a report that is not the same old bland "training the house down" pap. She gives us something different to Jen's video oriented reports, and I for one greatly appreciate the effort that goes into both.
After 20-odd likes to this comment I still haven't received any clarity on how my original comment had "breathtaking" disrespect - would very much appreciate the feedback rather than just leaving me to guess.

Because I don't think calling something verbose is disrespect when it is actually verbose?

Good point Pragmatic, I think you acknowledged the report but described it as verbose when it is, that is just reality. I guess everyone has different styles of course though.

That report used a bit of flowery language to dress up a description that by its nature is usually described in very pedestrian language. Cerulian is not an adjective that I would apply to a weather description in a footy report, and I can only applaud someone with the wit and word skills to bring it here. I probably went over the top in defence of the writer, but the response of so many posters suggests that they too see the need to back our training reporters to the absolute hilt. People giving a lot of themselves are very easily discouraged by even small criticisms, and I felt the need to protect them, even if the criticism was not meant maliciously.

I took your advice on board haha. See you tomorrow.

I would only assume that anyone who wants to use cerulean as a descriptor has recently watched the Devil Wears Prada.

Tactical sub maybe but I don't think we'll debut a player like that. And the problem with Draper at half back is he hasn't shown much form there plus the competition is equally stiff.

I'm sure he'll get a game just not at round one.

Mitchell, Pendlebury and Daicos as a midfield trio makes me moist.
