DuckYeah I agree on a few points you’ve made. LDU is, or very soon will be, our best player. By a street. Better than Jy and LMac already - you’ll get no arguments from me.

I don’t think he should be the captain though. Some of the absolute superstars of the last decade+ haven’t been skippers of their respective sides. Dusty, Buddy, Dangerfield, GAJ at Geelong, and plenty more.

LDU can let his game do the talking and the leading. He doesn’t need the title.

Just chuck him on ignore. His absolute insistence on this goes back months. It got tiresome bloody quickly

Jack is in the leadership group yet I can't for the life of me see how he will be best 22 with the way this team needs to be structured. But he offers leadership so it isn't always about performance.

I'm very happy to read that Shiels is setting a high standard, and keeping his teammates accountable + in line. That's what we got him for. The super professionalism that is the foundation of every successful sporting club. If he's doing it, then it will become contagious.
Its just good to have some kind of standard.

The campaigner runs all day… been a huge issue for us. Yeh, pretty high to be honest.
Was the best thing about Gibson.
Still feel he was underrated. Played a big part in a reasonably successful team (I realise we didn’t actually get close to winning flags, but we made prelims).

Any excuse will do…

2.25 minute mark to the 2.58 …with Gibbo finishing it off.

One of the most exciting goals in our history. Certainly in my 29 years as a supporter.

You could also make case he was overrated and overplayed.

Had excellent aerobic capacity (but so does every winger), but wasn't quick and iffy disposal.

The sides winning it at that point had guys like Isaac Smith coming off a wing by comparison.

I still can’t believe we took Atley before Smith, who had been playing in our VFL team (North Ballarat) if I recall correctly.

Averaged almost 23 disposals a game going at 75% disposal efficiency.
I think people just have this memory of him having shit disposal because it probably cost us as crucial times on occasion.

January/February are always exciting and optimistic times for every club. I love reading the reports from the track watchers. What I hope for is improvement from our "fringe" players and hope they can become real AFL standard and perhaps play 100+ games for NMFC.

When I look at our list and I look for players who need to improve to become apart of a hopefully competitive starting line up I identify the following;

Young
CCJ
Powell
Mahony
Lazzaro
Ford
Dawson

Are supporters who get to training (hard for me as I live in Central Vic) seeing obvious improvement (physical or skill level) that will mean some of the above become more valuable.
