Why not? Stones just isnt good enough at CB to win the CL. Rice can play at CB and also at DM. Would be the ideal player to replace Dinho & Stones.

Rice isn't good enough to play defence or midfield in a Pep side imo.

Stones may or not be going forward but when fit and confident he's good enough. He's got this season to prove it.

That number just shows that City keep getting it wrong in defensive signings so need to replace their bad signings but they replace them with another bad signing and so it goes ...
Most of the spending was to replace the likes of Clichy, Kolarov, Sagna, Zaba etc when Pep first came in.

And then a sorely needed replacement for Kompany.

Rice would walk into that City side as either a CM or CB. Would upgrade a few players make them such a better side in terms of quality and leadership.

But piss off hes our next summer.

Still got a week....I'm sure if Fat Frankie went & asked his Fearless Leader then it'd be done in a jiffy.

I dont know about that.

Ake - 45 million
Cancelo - 65 million
Angelino - 12 million
Laporte - 65 million
Mendy - 57 million
Walker - 52 million
Danilo - 30 million
Stones - 55 million
Otamendi - 44 million

That's a lot of defenders for a lot of money since the start of 15/16 season. For contrast that's Liverpool in the same time period.

Tsimikas - 11 million
Van Dijk - 75 million
Robertson - 8 million
Klavan - 4 million
Clyne - 16 million
Gomez 3.5 million

Pretty crazy.

Lot of contributors in that list to our success in the past few years. Crazy would be not to constantly try and improve your team if you can afford it.

Let's not go overboard.

He's an OK CB, and a decent DM.

He's definitely not an upgrade on Rodri and Fernandinho.

I wouldn't say he's as good as Laporte or Ake as a CB either.

He's a good versatile option though and can still improve.

His price tag takes into account his potential and his age, it's not a reflection of his current ability as a player imo (+ a shitload of English tax)

Would say Walker & Laporte the only real successes in that group. Ake & Dias remain to be seen.

Of course improve your team but there has to be a better way than the scattergun approach used.

Is it just Danilo & Otamendi that have been sold to recoup funds?

He's an upgrade on a cooked Fernadinho. His ability to play at CB is a bonus.

I would love to sign him in about 2-3 years time when we'll need to replace Hendo but I suspect he'll already be signed up at a big club by then.

No he wouldn't

He'd be behind Rodri if he finds form and miles behind Laporte. Dias. Ake. As a defensive option. Imo

Rice would struggle to make CFC best side apart from cb (Silva. Jorginho. Kante etc. Fat Frank just likes his poms

I'd love to see his reaction if I suggested Kalvin Phillips would walk into City or Chelsea's side.

Phillips is easily the equal of Rice as a DM, if he's not better in that position. Statistically he's well ahead of him in the first 3 weeks and I think KP has actually been below his best.

I don't think Rice is as good as some of the established CB's getting around when played there.

Like I said, I think he's a very versatile option, but isn't the absolute best DM around, not the absolute best CB getting around. He certainly isn't better than Kante and it's debatable whether he's any better than Kovacic or Jorginho in midfield.

Sky Germany: FC Bayern wants to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi (again)

It looks like they are going to sell us Michaël Cuisance for around £18m. When you add on the Thiago money, they have probably paid for most of it.

Their squads looks very thin

Quality but bit short on numbers. Like our resident Dortmund fan will tell you.

Apparently Cuisance went nuts at training (again) to force a move likes he has done several times before to change clubs. First team football / Leeds

Leeds looking pretty stacked just quietly. Hopefully they go straight back down regardless

Rice is very valuable cause he is 21 and English (Irish?) And versatile

But I'm doubtful how good he currently is in comparison to Chelsea and city defenders and mids

I think they will add someone. Wouldn't be surprised for them to pull Aouar or someone of that ilk.

I'm not sure he's done it several times before, he's only moved from Gladbach to Bayern. He's only just turned 21.

He apparently got in an argument with Lewandowski, after Lewa went in pretty hard on a challenge.

I think the view is that a medical is incoming very soon and it wasn't really appreciated given the circumstances.

He certainly does seem like one of those French firebrand types though....

I think I recall Bayern fans being worried about him - when initially signed, cause he carried on to get his move to German originally

Edit:

TL;DR/Summary :

In 2016, Cuisance was supposed to be promoted to AS Nancy pro-team. He was offered a contract but demanded 4 times more money. The player got himself into a serious conflict with the board and earned a suspension for some months from playing. In this way, he was only running down his contract. As Cuisance was nearing the contractual release, he signed for Gladbach in May 2017. Cuisance's childhood coach and former French striker Jean-Robert Faucher reflected on this deal, "For us, as for the AS Nancy, it's a disappointment. We feel betrayed, we do not work for young people to leave so early abroad

They signed him from Borussia Monchengladbach after he was their player of the season as an 19 year old.

Not sure if you have it mixed up with them and I haven't read anything regarding his move from Nancy to Gladbach being issues.

Also, he was raised in Strasbourg which is a French/German border city, so like most around there, many consider themselves semi German/French on both sides of the border in that Alsace-Lorraine region. Don't think there would have been too much worry about him jumping ship back to France.

This seems to be purely pushing for first team football.

Alsacian is spoken in that region along with French/German. Father is from Alsace, lovely area. Kronenbourg brewery tour a must for anyone that goes.
