Treatment versus Vaccine

It 100% has not been proven effective.
Regarding the news of the UK trial Dr. Lawrie is exasperated: “Contrary to the mainstream media reports, the evidence is that Ivermectin is clearly proven to work against covid. In fact, there is more evidence on ivermectin than on any other treatment option for covid, and far more safety data than any of the novel therapies.”
“More placebo-controlled clinical trials of ivermectin are unethical and are definitely not needed. We know Ivermectin saves lives. The investigators of the PRINCIPLE trial also know this, as we informed them months ago. We remain open to assisting them in understanding the available evidence.”
”We trust that the MHRA will facilitate rapid approval of this low cost, effective and safe generic medicine, and that ivermectin will be made widely available, so that covid is beaten, the economy can recover, and the faith of the British public is restored.”

It has nothing to do with mainstream media.

The studies themselves are all there to see.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the antiviral drug Veklury (remdesivir) for use in adult and pediatric patients 12 years of age and older and weighing at least 40 kilograms (about 88 pounds) for the treatment of COVID-19 requiring hospitalization. Veklury should only be administered in a hospital or in a healthcare setting capable of providing acute care comparable to inpatient hospital care. Veklury is the first treatment for COVID-19 to receive FDA approval.

"Pooling data from a large number of small, low-quality clinical trials does not magically create one large, high-quality clinical trial," wrote Gorski, who is also managing editor of Science-Based Medicine, a website that evaluates medical claims.

He added: "The few existing higher quality clinical trials testing ivermectin against the disease uniformly have failed to find a positive result. It’s only the smaller, lower-quality trials that have been positive. This is a good indication that the drug probably doesn’t work."

Gorski also pointed out that the researchers, despite claiming to have no conflicts of interest, are affiliated with BIRD (British Ivermectin Recommendation Development) Group.

BIRD describes itself as "campaigning for the safe medicine ivermectin to be approved to prevent and cure COVID-19 around the world."

Tess Lawrie, who is one of the study’s co-authors and a BIRD leader, told PolitiFact in an email that her study "shows that large reductions in deaths from COVID are probable when ivermectin is used, especially when employed as early treatment."

Another meta-analysis, published June 28, arrived at an opposite conclusion.

UK approves another treatment option; Regeneron/Roche

Good news.

Still, best to vaccinate first and minimise chances of catching it in the first place, not to mention avoid being hospitalised even if you get a breakthrough infection.

For most; but for a cohort and the world at large, including the vaccinated who continue to get sick and spread the virus, treatment options are vital.

Japan suspends distribution of Moderna vaccine (msn.com)

" Japanese health officials restricted distribution of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine after a pharmacist discovered black particles of stainless steel inside a vial. "

More vaccine related deaths in covid hit Japan. Yikes. I really feel for the Japanese public here & can relate. Had to put up with hosting the olympics & now covid is running riot.

Isn't this just a copy of that Ivermectin medication everyone was clowing on only a week ago?

It's such a shame that the discussion around this stuff descends into idiocy so quickly.

I'd wager that the above line is running rampant on all anti-covid sites right now. It'll be the new cut and paste special.

So you have people that are anti-vax screaming that Ivermectin is the key and treatment is better than prevention - yet studies that are pursuing treatments are met with scorn.

I don't know the science very well at all, but from what I read - it's not the same as Ivermectin.

Secondly, very few have clowned ivermectin. What's been clowned is the false statement that it cures COVID. The false statement that has been cut and pasted everywhere that it's a miracle drug that science has proven to cure COVID is what has been ridiculed. And rightly so.

And thirdly, as the article states, there are several treatments being studied. There have been studies done on heaps of treatments and drugs throughout - including Ivermectin. None have proven or supported the hypothesis that it's effective in cure COVID.

Hopefully that changes in the very near future.

How the above news can be met with cycnacism or scepticism is beyond me. It's really quite sad.

regular people buying and eating a horse medication for killing parasites at whatever dose the pills come in regardless of size simply because someone on the internet said so =/= running a proper clinical trial of same drug in controlled monitored conditions and varied doses to see if it actually has any effect or is even safe.

Lets be clear, no one is saying invermicten might not have some use in treatment. hell, there are worse drugs used to treat simpler ailments (some asthma treatments contain speed related drugs). its just stupid to promote invermicten as an alternative on the basis that the vaccine hasn't had enough testing, when invermicten hasn't had any.
