It becomes gossip which belongs in gossip rags. I guess you could technically call that news.
News is anything that attracts interest from the public. Just because you don’t like the story, doesn’t mean it isn’t news for someone else.

This has been the media landscape for centuries, but it’s when self interest appears that certain segments become very sensitive to a particular story.

What you do is take a deep breath and deal with the fact it’s not going away. The sun will still come up tomorrow, your life really hasn’t been affected by the story other than your self perceived sensitivity to it.

Mate…you’re on here defending journos writing stories about footballers failed relationships. Have a think about that. Then enjoy the reruns of MAFS cos you sound like you’d be into that.

If it’s affecting how the team is performing on field it’s absolutely news

Multiple people at the club have said this is not the case. Even bloody Tom Morris today said he wouldn’t have run with this story as it is a tabloid story not a football story. That’s gotta be saying something.

News literally stands for Notable Events, Weather & Sport so if this is a real incident and is impacting the Lions then it's genuine news.

And MAFs is a hilarious show. Mostly fabricated and manipulated but good junk TV to watch with the Mrs haha.

Multiple people at the Demons have said there is no drug culture.

I suppose that settles it!

That’s an urban myth. News literally refers to things which are ‘new’

Because football clubs never lie about stories detrimental to that club!

Never I tell you!

Are they seriously going to come out and say “yeah, so wild trip with the boys and some MAFS story lines. Locker room divided, derailed the season”.

No.

Basic PR says they’ll deny it, pull a few strings to soften the story off and let it blow away. But that doesn’t mean it’s not interesting or relevant.

We all know if Lions were 3-0 & not 0-3, this would not be reported on by the media.

Once Lions lost on Thursday, the media could use this rumour they never would have touched just so they could link it to the Lions poor form.

I feel sorry for the partners involved having this dragged up in the media.

I was listening to the pregame on triple m today and bigfooty got a mention, in connection to made up rumours. I was only half listening but they were winding up somebody about the story when he said it all started on bigfooty.
For something that started on BigFooty, the club hasn’t denied the part of the story about what happened in the US. They only seem intent on denying the player fallout.

Whatever caused the fallout is also relevant. Cause and effect.
Well of course, lol. That's if there is or was any fall out at all & if it has/had anything at all to do with how poorly they are playing.

There could have been a fall out when it happened in November, but no credible journo would have reported on that rumour on its own.

It's only because they are playing poorly & after losing on Thursday that the media are using that rumour to link it with their poor form.

They could just be playing badly.

Okay. I guess an overseas trip 5 months ago must be the reason we can’t kick inside 50 now.
Literally a kick away from PREMIERSHIP GLORY and now you're battling for the spoon.
You don't just forget these skills.

Very hard to concentrate on work when your home life is in TURMOIL.
