Found out on the radio yesterday that old campaigners also get a tax break, just for being old. No income limit, it just raises the tax free threshold. So all your old campaigner CEO Pollie types are getting a fat tax break just for being old, that your average 20 year old scratching by ok 40k doesn't. The whole system is so ******* rigged for boomers it's laughable
You just found that out....?

And loving it! I couldn't even use all my offsets, rebates and deductions last year or my tax liability would've been in the minus :D

Yet when Covid came along, natures remedy , you cried like a little bitch.

Is this some new government promise, or something that supposedly already exists? Because it sounds like bs - all the senior/low/middle income tax offsets are means tested/subject to Centrelink eligibilty, etc - CEOs and Pollies ain't getting it.

Inflationary factors and the need for tax reform

Have a listen here. Unless I'm misunderstanding it, the interpretation in the podcast sounds as though if over 65 it essentially functions as a higher tax free threshold. Its not means tested.

The argument (that I agree with) is that it should be wound back to apply to aged pensioners only.
It's towards the end of the segment, the first part is about inflation stuff.

So work hard for 30 to 40 years and pump as much as you can into your super and you'll get your lick when the time comes ;)

the way life works in emerging and developing nations, is the wealth is held by the parents. That way the kids, who are the parents superannuation, look after them until death. It is at that point in time that the next generation get the property/ wealth and the cycle starts again.

we have lost sight that this is just how things are and have always been, as we now teach kids they have rights, opportunity and putting your parents into nursing homes to rot and die is OK (and then whinge about the poor treatment). However as you can see our system, still isn't too different from the system we emerged from.

stop whinging and work harder to look after yourself, your family and carry society. That's ones responsibility from 15-65.

I didn't see anyone under 50 eating democracy sausages it was all gorging boomers.

We walked to the local primary school at 5:45pm and snuck in right before the close. No lines. No sausages. No Wukkas.

Did lol at the very old woman being shuffled into the polling station by her daughter telling the officers that she has dementia and just came from the nursing home. Surely at that point you don't need to vote, and if you do, whose vote are you really casting?

Yea I knew going early was gonna be a hassle but I hate thinking about it all day.

No you definitely don’t have to vote at that age.

There was a guy with his wife who obviously had some issues as he had a little fold out chair for her when the line came to a stand still... you'd think someone would bump them up the queue a bit.

Then there was an old couple who tried to enter the queue midway & got told pretty swiftly to gtfo.

Try going when its busy and listen to random conversations from people trying to explain the reasoning behind why they are going to vote a certain way....

When the Greeks came up with the idea of democracy wasn't it only representatives that got a vote on behalf of their community?

Personally you should have to do a similar test as you do for your drivers licence to get the right to vote. Might stop some of this bullish!t fear mongering campaigns

I had to listen to some decrepit Family First codger wittering on about late term abortions. Unfortunately my other half stopped me from telling him he was a late term abortion.
