1 episode down of House of the Dragon and I can safely say it eclipses anything from the last 3 seasons of Game of Thrones. Cautiously optimistic.

Agree, it had the grit from the original.

Hopefully they’ve realised that’s what made it good in the first place.

I was going to give it a miss because I was so disappointed with the last few seasons of GoT, but the reviews in here have piqued my interest

If you like the books and the early series, there’s no reason you won’t like it.

Watching Rogan interview Mustaine it seems to be just Joe dominating conversation about martial arts 20 minutes deep... who gives a fukc! talk about music ffs.

I haven't watched yet, but the difference here is it's based on one (finished) book. GoT went to shit once it passed the book and D&D were making up most of it themselves. No such worries with this. Of course they can still **** it up in other ways.

There's probably been a lot written on it but it's wild how a central tenet of news is geographical proximity when we live in a globalised world. Just seeing the sheer volume of catastrophes hitting the world which effects everyone as we're all in this economic system together and the commercial news bulletin still has all this time to report on a robbery in some suburb of whatever city you're in, and a few minutes dedicated to local police dogs or whatever. Who cares? The planets gone to shit and living conditions are universally getting worse.

On the one hand, world news gets utterly depressing very quick. On the other hand, maybe people would be less likely to be such stupid campaigners if they had some sort of global context to put their perspective in.
