Lauren Jackson is still playing!!!! 😯😯😯
This is the worst opals team I reckon we’ve ever fielded. And the worrying thing is most of the team is 29-33 years old with Lauren Jackson being the oldest at 41.

There’s really only 1 player out there I can positively say will be around next World Cup.

I have been wondering if the emergence of aflw would really weaken other codes and their national teams. The opals at their height were world class and a threat for gold every tournament.

We will be lucky to make the bronze medal game this year and the team looks like going downhill after that.

Two years to the day of the last mass whale stranding on Ocean Beach. Not as much publicity this time, but it has been a tough couple of days, being based on the west coast I was one of the first responders to the incident. Kind of heartbreaking stuff when you can see the intelligence behind their eyes but there's not a lot we can do to help, and what we can takes time.

The swell on Ocean Beach makes it impossible for them to be towed directly back out to sea, so they have to be manually loaded into trailers and driven around the point into the harbour. From there they are loaded into slings and tied onto boats from the fish farms, one on each side, and towed back out onto open water through hell's gates.

This time at least we had a telehandler on the beach to lift them up and load them onto the trailers rather than manually lift them with 20 odd people needed per whale. Still a lot of heavy manual work involved however.

The problem is being 4 hrs+ from Hobart it takes a long time to mobilise people and equipment so on the first day there is not a lot we can do other than get them upright and try to keep the cool until more help arrives.

Lots of theories on why this keeps happening and whether human interaction is involved. I don't know the answer but we do know mass strandings still occurred 100+ years ago in the age of sail so I assume it's mostly just a natural event. Ocean beach is unfortunately just a hotspot but who knows why they come in off the continental shelf and get themselves in trouble.

You've never had it so good...

Lol what a farce.

That wealth would be the boomers who bought their houses for a pittance and saw the prices rise astronomically and those assets are counted now as wealth.

Meaning that what is considered aussies wealth today will be aussies debts tomorrow as the next generation is having to go into massive debt to buy these things.

That's no doubt the gist of it, but they're also including superannuation, which is a bit 'notional'. I wonder if they factored in the thousands of people who cashed out their super during the Covid lockdowns.

Profits before safety aye quantas
Speed tape - an special aluminium tape put over peeling paint patches that otherwise impact aero performance.

Nothing to worry about mate. And pretty common atm across all airlines as passenger demand surges back to life after covid and airlines don't have the capacity to take airlines out of service for the 2 week+ repaint service.

Agree it looks bad though and ordinarily airlines wouldn't do it. Saw it a lot when I used to travel across US.

So...got a call from Toyota about my Toyota Access finance finishing up in a year, saying that order times on cars are horrendous at the moment and if I wanted to trade in to get a new one I should start thinking about it now. I'm like ehhh, i've got a three year old VX Prado that's done <20,000 because of COVID and now working completely remotely for an interstate business.

Turns out, the used car market combined with toyota resell - is ****ing insane. Given the delays in delivery at the moment the used car market is going crazy as it means people can have what they want 'now'. In any case, they valued my trade in at 73k. (I ****ing bought it new at like 89k). I only owe 30 on it now lmao. Given I didn't trade anything in when I got the new Prado, i've somehow gained (!) 50k equity.

Had a look at some of the new LC300's, and i'm now pulling the trigger on a Sahara ZX, and my repayments will be LESS that current, lmao.

Crazy, am I war /pandemic profiteering, lol?

🤔 Might have to see if the 100series is worth anything 😉

I know people that flipped a Sahara almost straight away after buying for a significant profit. Also related but I was talking to another guy who used to work in car sales/parts, and he ended up quitting as he done almost nothing for six months, given the delays on new cars and parts. Turn up, can't order anything, nothing arrives, can't do anything for anyone, go home.

What a shitshow.

Yep, I move cars on every 3 years through salary sacrifice as work in health and i traded my car last year for a ludicrous amount.
