Surely he can't balance the two roles. He should step away from Port Adelaide immediately.

Bit of a wild ride...

Last night I was at Marion with the missus getting some gumboots for the toddler as rain and mud is the order now! We finished up and headed to the car. We were parked in the underground caverns near the myer enterance.

Was putting the little man into his car seat and heard some loud meowing. Both the missus and I were like "was that a cat?" It kept going, sounded distressed.

At this point a lady distracting by the goings on walking back to her car which was parked next to us, turns to get to her drivers side without noticing me standing in her way. She absolutely freaks and screams loudly thinking I was getting ready to mug her or something as I caught her by surprise lmao. Anyway she calmed down and I explained what was going on and she was keen to help.

So we started tracking it down by sound and found it stuck in a sort of locked cage that houses LPG canisters. It had enough clearance to get in and out though, so we used an umbrella to force it out and wrapped it up in a towel.

It was so exhausted it more or less just nestled into the towel and went to sleep. We were like well who is gonna take it to the vet? The lady was like I can, so we exchanged numbers to keep in touch about it and off we went after helping get it into the car.

She calls about 20 minutes later and the vet she went to was just like "if you leave it with us we will just put it down" while also saying it had a leg injury and a bad wound on the same leg. So I said to the lady, drop it off at my place and i'll take it to a better vet the next day.

Popped it into the crate my big german shepard used to sleep in with all the modcons, nice cat bed etc. (We have another cat) and some food. It hardly stirred all night and was super chilled. Great natured.

Took it to the vets and they looked it over and said it was only FIVE WEEKS old (****ing hell) and was a boy. They said the leg wound could be serious and needed to be looked at and so I said look, first of all check if it has FIV because if it does its all a moot point, but I said I would pay for the xrays etc if he came back clear. They said they couldnt fit him in for xrays till Monday and I said look we are going to adopt it its FIV clear and asked if they could find a spot - they did. Had to wait for half the day so left it with them.

We get the call, he's FIV free and the injury is a fracture to the leg and a nasty wound. The fracture will heal on its own with rest but the wound had to be cleared out and they couldnt seal it up because the little thing didnt have the flesh to sew up as its so small. So big bandage and dressing that needs changing a few times.

In the end...$500 bill, but we have this little gentleman on the mend, safe and warm. We have decided to name him Achilles owing to the lower leg wound and fracture! All in all, what a lucky little cat.

Nice story, and I don't like and am allergic to cats.

Lovely thing to do, and he looks like a real sweetheart. We took in a kitten that was left on someone’s doorstep all by herself when she was about 5-6 weeks old, now abt 15 months old and one of the family.

Hes eating out of my hand and super loving. Its funny how strays often are. You can usually tell a feral from a stray/dumped cat because ferals are savage even as kittens.

I reckon this one was dumped.

Well he's a cat, he’s landed on his feet. 😉

I remember the stray cats living under a transportable building at school & we got the dumb kid to dangle his hand in an opening and this cat just latched on his hand like a cougar. The scream that kid let out was like something out of Friday the 13th & we all ran away.
