His highlights on the club's YouTube is actually Robbie like. A slower version of Gray but still lots of Robbie traits.
Smokin' Joe is definitely faster than Gray at top speed.

I reckon this is almost the safest pick at the draft after the top 6. Reckon worst case scenario is he becomes Farrell which is still quite good. Similar game style at u18 level. Best case scenario is he becomes Bayley Fritsch and kicks bags and reliably so. The positive thing about Berry is, like Fritsch, he maximises his opportunities. Could have games with 10 disposals but 4 goals regularly. I'm confident he gets there. The question that still remains for me if small forward was our biggest need going into the draft given the way we play.

Totally different story if we change the way we play, but who are we kidding? We still got Ken and he hasn't changed a thing in 12 years.

Fritsch is a good comparison, though Joe might range further.

I'm looking forward to watching this collection of small forwards.

There's a lot of Bayley Fritsch that I saw in Berry. Maybe his ceiling his higher but if he gets the output Fritsch does then that's a win. The turn of speed, the accuracy, craft and ability to have low disposal but high impact games are similar traits between the two.

Contrary to most others, I don't see Berry making it in midfield even as a chop out. But I think he's got more than enough forward nous to become an important cog.

Unless our gameplan next year magically changes under Ken, I look forward to the collection of smalls from 2026.

Geoff Parker confirmed a number of clubs were trying to trade up to get Berry.

Parker confirmed more than a couple of clubs had pressed for the Eagles' pick, with list manager Jason Cripps managing to orchestrate the deal in time.

"We had some information, there might be one or two (other clubs interested) and then we found out it was probably a lot more than one and two," Parker added.

If they got some proper value for Houston, there wouldn't have been any need to trade up 1 spot. They could have even had some extra capital for next draft.

At some point people have to stop complaining about the Houston trade and move on. He put us in a near impossible position forcing us to trade with a club that had no capital.

It's all been covered ad infinitum in the Houston thread, this is about Berry.

I'm happy with what Port did on draft night to get the player they wanted.

Getting Berry, Whitlock and Richards for Houston turned out pretty well.

As I said at the time, we will know down the track how that trade panned out.

If any of those players have a decent career with us we break even. More than one of them having a decent career and we win the trade. Our odds are pretty good I reckon.

Yea I dunno there's decent careers then being a multi All Australian.. we won't know for years.

I feel better about the Houston trade after seeing how hard it was for clubs to trade up during the draft. North trading a future first for pick 27 or what ever it was was is testament to this.

If we got 13 and a North future 1st for Houston we would have been happy.

With Berry and Whitlock we effectively got the same value plus Moraes
