The Red and White one? The place we used to call Bosses back in the 90s. I was only there last week. WTF? Joint is an institution.

Yep. Current owners citing rent increases, cost of produce, and dwindling customer base.

Is that Bill? He was always complaining to me he staff weren't rocking up. When I went there the other there was an Indian guy serving. Now my casual racism kicked in as I have a rule of thumb that fish n Chip shops should only be run by Greeks or Lebos but he actually did make a decent Yiros.

Always good to hear your thoughts on which races should be allowed to do which jobs, Popo. Just a pity the server wasn't a woman so we could have also had the pleasure of hearing whether or not you thought she was hot.

No worries Schulzy. The Barrista at the Fix Cafe in College Park I frequent is corker. Rarely wears a bra. The Paninis are also excellent.

So many good places have shut down, or are shutting down. Madness.

Greedy landlords and so many other costs associated with employing people if you are a small business struggling to keep the doors open

I hear you. The same thing happened to us.

What’s her ethnic background though?

Nothing wrong with appreciating prime examples of the female form m7 one of life's pleasures.
I'll appreciate a fine female form as much as the next guy, the odd thing is the boomer accountant thinking that any of us are interested to hear which women do or do not provide him with Cialis assisted boners.

Bit of a wild ride...

Last night I was at Marion with the missus getting some gumboots for the toddler as rain and mud is the order now! We finished up and headed to the car. We were parked in the underground caverns near the myer enterance.

Was putting the little man into his car seat and heard some loud meowing. Both the missus and I were like "was that a cat?" It kept going, sounded distressed.

At this point a lady distracting by the goings on walking back to her car which was parked next to us, turns to get to her drivers side without noticing me standing in her way. She absolutely freaks and screams loudly thinking I was getting ready to mug her or something as I caught her by surprise lmao. Anyway she calmed down and I explained what was going on and she was keen to help.

So we started tracking it down by sound and found it stuck in a sort of locked cage that houses LPG canisters. It had enough clearance to get in and out though, so we used an umbrella to force it out and wrapped it up in a towel.

It was so exhausted it more or less just nestled into the towel and went to sleep. We were like well who is gonna take it to the vet? The lady was like I can, so we exchanged numbers to keep in touch about it and off we went after helping get it into the car.

She calls about 20 minutes later and the vet she went to was just like "if you leave it with us we will just put it down" while also saying it had a leg injury and a bad wound on the same leg. So I said to the lady, drop it off at my place and i'll take it to a better vet the next day.

Popped it into the crate my big german shepard used to sleep in with all the modcons, nice cat bed etc. (We have another cat) and some food. It hardly stirred all night and was super chilled. Great natured.

Took it to the vets and they looked it over and said it was only FIVE WEEKS old (****ing hell) and was a boy. They said the leg wound could be serious and needed to be looked at and so I said look, first of all check if it has FIV because if it does its all a moot point, but I said I would pay for the xrays etc if he came back clear. They said they couldnt fit him in for xrays till Monday and I said look we are going to adopt it its FIV clear and asked if they could find a spot - they did. Had to wait for half the day so left it with them.

We get the call, he's FIV free and the injury is a fracture to the leg and a nasty wound. The fracture will heal on its own with rest but the wound had to be cleared out and they couldnt seal it up because the little thing didnt have the flesh to sew up as its so small. So big bandage and dressing that needs changing a few times.

In the end...$500 bill, but we have this little gentleman on the mend, safe and warm. We have decided to name him Achilles owing to the lower leg wound and fracture! All in all, what a lucky little cat.

That only cost you $500?
That's a good price for the work they did. Some place would charge quite a bit for an xray + blood work and wound cleaning.

No sure about the vet that was just gonna put it down? The **** is wrong with that place?

We recently picked one up from ginger ninja rescue to pair with our old boy. Definitely cuddly but wants to be with our cat even if the older one ain't that keen.

i think they looked after us because we were adopting and rescuing etc.

The vets that was gonna put it down was Hinkley's guys.
I'm told that is the difference between the two vets is that one was a "no kill" and the other was a greyhound annihilator.

Even if it was FIV positive, they said they would find a foster for it as they had FIV foster people.

Stray cats/kittens are a dime a dozen unfortunately. Plenty of rescues available so what else can they do but bung em in the greyhound annihilator? It's better to do that with a stray than let it wreak havoc on native species, unless you've got someone whos willing to look after it

Yep. I said to the vet before the blood tests etc. "Time to find out if this kitten is lucky or not." Because I knew FIV meant no adoption and high chance of destruction. Cats with FIV can live perfectly long lives but you just cant risk them spreading it.

The no kill vet agreed with my approach and said it was the right way to do it.

Had to give it a chance at life, but you can't save them all.

But most importantly, what’s the other cat’s opinion on all this?
