Turf at Optus Stadium

To preface this question, I’d like to note that I think the newish Perth stadium has proved itself as an excellent football and cricket stadium.

However, I have to ask, what is going on with the playing surface? It resembles a newly returned council ground currently. Is there some weather/ other outside factor that I’ve missed?

It's actually in pretty good condition, it just looks bad because they recently replaced some of the turf. Players aren't slipping over like they were a few years ago.

Can’t handle a downpour either, water pooled everywhere when Collingwood played Freo last year.

Pretty much. Part of the turf was relaid.
