Twiggy sticks a great big log up Rudd

Twiggy is no threat to anyone except his fellow billionaires.
Memo to Rudd - give them one more week to fall into line and then **** em.
We will not be beholden to a handful of billionaires, you are the govt, make it law, spread the benefits of these vital non renewable resources to the other 99.9% of the country and watch them squeal.

I don't particularly don't want to pay for a fleet of luxury cars for these billionaire's spoilt children.

We should confiscate their leases and give them to people who appreciate what they have got from this country.

If they can afford this massive advertising campaign, telling lies to trick the stupid, then they can afford to pull their weight.

One problem, illegal under the constitution and also under International law of which we are a signatory. You would have to buy the leases at market value.
And I am sure the majority of Australians would just love to see Govt forcebally aquiring assets.

Do you people if think before you post?

Well, if they say they are no longer going to mine in these leases, then the leases would no of no value to them and they would be very happy to give them away.

Unless of course these miners are telling bare faced lies to trick the stupid into giving away their children's inheritance.

Morgoth: Do you think that these leases are of no value or are miners telling bare faced lies to trick the stupid into giving away their children's inheritance?

It has to be one or the other.

Perhaps you should take your own advice Morgoth and think before you make posts advocating for the interests of foreign owned companies desperate to plunder our resources.

Think about the interests of Australia and Australians. Not just about the interests of Multinationals who have purchased the Liberal and National parties.

I am pointing out that one you propose is illegal, no dispute about it. One other thing you keep missing, the resources belong to the state in which they are based, once again this old thing called the consitution.

Its that simple, once again you ignore the point and go on with some socialist dogma about 'its for the children'. I have a kid she already has shares in some of these companies. That's investing for your childrens future, taking charge and doing it yourself. You would prefer the Govt does it for you.

And in 20 years you will still be waiting for someone else to improve your lot. You are gutless Grin, not prepared to make the hard calls to get ahead so you seek to hold everyone else back to your low level.

That's right lets just build a wall around Fortress Australia, we can look to the Albanian method and not allow any investments in our country, keep the bastards out. Of course we may have to sell any interests we have in other countries but that's ok isolation is the way to go.

Speaking of purchasing a political party I hear you can not only buy the ear, but a considerable part of most Labor pollys if you have enough money.

Just start off in NSW and work your way around the country.

Absolutely. Australia can do this very easily.

We have a huge amount of surplus savings given we run a big trade surplus, no need for os capital.

However, we really should keep throwing billions at the foreign car makers and keep tariffs on imports. They are far more important to the economy. Ditto TCF.

This is one of your worst posts, which says something.

I really, sincerely hope you are a troll, otherwise if these posts reflect your real thinking and views then....

You want your child to pay much more tax than she otherwise need when she grows up. Yet you call me a socialist:eek:

You brilliant tax adviser you.

She pays no tax on these investments and never will. They are tax free, there are always ways Grin.

Simon Crean, a great Victorian, came out yesterday in Question Time and mentioned the removal of the royalties paid to the states which the RSPT will replace.

All that needs to be done is that an emergency session of COAG is called and the question on the royalties be put.

Twiggy and co forget that there is that system in place and forget about the royalties in their bleating and moaning.

The entire industry has been caught out fudging the figures, by the Industry Minister (and the man who should have been PM long before Rudd came along!)

What are you on about? Provide a link so we can try and decipher what the hell you are on about.

COAG? WA is part of COAG so good luck with that.

Don't think that the states are going to give away their right in the constitution to charge royalties based simply on the strength of Rudd's arguments and convictions.

Sounds like BHP is getting ready to stick a log up Rudd also but they will put it in sideways:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/bus...x-morgan-stanley/story-e6frg9no-1225880335279

BHP Billiton's massive Olympic Dam expansion project could be the next project put on hold because of the government’s resources super profits tax, according to Morgan Stanley.

Analyst Craig Campbell said in a note this morning the project, which is the world’s largest uranium deposit, would likely follow a series of projects put on hold if the tax remains in its current form.

“We think further project curtailments, including that of the $US20-$US40bn Olympic Dam project, are likely if the RSPT remains in its current form,” he said.

“Under the RSPT as proposed, the project has no economic value, in our view.

Crean also said Rudd had completely stuffed up the attempted implementation of this tax.

Pazza, the Government has been exposed as relying on deception and mis-representation to try and justify this tax, that's even worse.

And good luck with COAG; I still wouldn't count out a High Court challenge based on Constitutional legality if this goes ahead.

From the same article:

Campbell said there are three primary areas where the RPST could be challenged under the Australian Constitution after discussions with a “leading constitutional legal firm”.

This is the Chifley bank nationalisation all over again.

pazza - can you tell me how this works, or provide a link that explains it?

for eg - are state royalties all abolished the moment the tax comes into effect?

Do the states get compensated for loss of revenue from the super tax?
And if so, has this been already allocated in the forward projections?

Do the states all have to give their consent to forgoing their royalties?
